QUOTE(djronzai @ Feb 9 2011, 07:59 PM) Depends on your need If you don't need that much of battery life, the 4820TG's advantage is pretty minimal... Note that if you have any plan using Linux, you won't be able to use the nVidia card on the N43... This post has been edited by lee_what2004: Feb 9 2011, 09:01 PM |

The one handling the heat is the internal heatsink and fan.. |

nVidia Optimus is its name for dynamic switchable GPU, which eliminate the screen become blank when switching the GPU...
In return, it won't work in Linux since its not supported by nVidia, thus you can only use Intel HD in Linux... As for AMD/ATi, their solution is the older way, which resulting screen blanks for a while when switching GPU... So, its like Auto vs Manual switch... |

the argument against optimus is that you can' control which graphic card to use, unlike the manual switch.

Hi guys..Great thread you all have here
1. Brand - Open to any suggestions. Although i've received feedback from ppl that HP&Compaq isnt that good and Dell always have something going wrong with the minor parts. 2. Budget - Below 2k 3. Specs - Main usage will be for watching shows/movies, general online purposes. Preferably a lighter type notebook, good and loud sound (very important lol), good battery life, long lasting, and doesnt overheat easily. 4. Size - 13-15" will do. Looking forward to your feedbacks. Thanks a bunch! This post has been edited by anneysays: Feb 9 2011, 10:25 PM |

QUOTE(Najmods @ Feb 8 2011, 05:32 PM) In my particular laptop for some unknown reason it won't go to 2D speed when in Maximum Performance mode, emailing ASUS technical service end up bickering and finger pointing at me instead of just fixing the damn BIOS Huh, what u mean by 2D speed in maximum performance mode?Apart from that there's nothing wrong with it. My friend bought the same laptop as me, roughly on the same date and still working fine till this day. I haven't checked whether it exhibit same behavior or not. But I will sell this laptop once I get it. No longer interest to do heavy gaming anymore Don't really know about tech stuff. How much can it fetch if u're selling? Since it is repaired once? |

QUOTE(GooD_DaY @ Feb 9 2011, 10:21 PM) Huh, what u mean by 2D speed in maximum performance mode? Mean it won't reduce its speed and voltage if I set maximum performance mode in Catalyst Control Center. Its not really that hot though because it still low end GPU, I just love to annoy ASUS to fix it, but it seems like they aren't as keen of fixing problem as past few years.Don't really know about tech stuff. How much can it fetch if u're selling? Since it is repaired once? I dunno, I don't mind if I sell it cheap like RM1.2k-1.3k with 3GB RAM. Its only less than two month old. I don't really wanted to do gaming anymore, just browsing and video watching apart from doing powerpoint and word assignments so integrated graphics will do fine. Aiming for in range of 10"-11" AMD Fusion subnotebook or ULV range would do fine as well. something cool enough to put on my lap |

QUOTE(DoubleU @ Feb 8 2011, 10:09 PM) actually if you're leaning towards multimedia more, the mbp 13 is a better choice... nicer screen. Bro, thanks for you advises! Anyone more? Guide me out pleaseand cheaper than the ENVY beats edition. performance asus wins, and also, if you're not gonna do steam gaming... then using mac for gaming is kinda wonky. imo, i would go for the macbook pro 13 if you're not into gaming so much (like dun play black ops, dun play mass effect, dragon age) cause the screen on the mbp 13 is absolutely gorgeous. and the size is pretty nice. Only downside is the design is horrible. I would stay away from the HP envy unless you really want to showoff... i mean, macbooks aren't impressive anymore. and the Asus? Nah... cause you might as well get a good gaming notebook if your budget so high. So i say go for MBP 13, unless you can't use OSX.... its shit hard for me to use =\ MBP 13' HP ENVY 14' ASUS N53SN |

Gaming and multimedia wise would be N53SN..
Screen wise, if you still can get HP Envy 14 with Radiance display(1600x900), it would be better than those three.... or can also consider Dell XPS 15 with screen upgrade to B+RGLED 1080p... This post has been edited by lee_what2004: Feb 10 2011, 03:46 AM |
