Yes it does Optimus is within all Nvidia ones, unlike ATI only a few series of graphics card got
Some sellers I realise they type wrongly say ASUS ATI GPU one got Nvidia Optimus Totally wrong

Surfing and facebook games don't need such high-end ones bro
High end ones mostly will suck the battery like a blackhole.
13 inches mostly offering in i3s, but suggest waiting for new lines of SB procs for better integrated graphics (Assuming you will play game while using battery)
If not very high end, an AMD Fusion APU laptop might be great, also a lot less than your budget.

Till now... most price lists and official brand websites aren't really updated yet. So I would suggest to wait a while
Opening many tabs is my favourite too
No idea if AMD Fusion could handle that or not, but based on the tabs part... On Chrome it really uses a lot of RAM, not really the processor.

Wait, sorry for going a little off topic but doesn't the palm proof technology differentiates by using proximity sensors to detect if it's your wrist or finger on the track pad so you won't accidentally click with your wrist when you're typing?

Well as stated on the a stickied thread for processors, they did state that i7 is for video encoding, conversions, 3D rendering, so on and so forth.
i5 is optimised for gaming and much less for those heavy rendering, encoding as the i7.
If both price is more or less the same, I suggest you make the change
