Dear sifus,
Hihi! I'm helping a friend to buy a laptop. I was wondering what are the latest/current available options for a RM1.5k 14 inch laptop? It'll be used for net surfing/ watching movies only. Oh ya, don't want FreeDOS, too much hassle for my friend haha THank U thank U! The more options the better |

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Feb 18 2011, 12:47 PM) Yup, freeDOS one.. Thanks a lot bro! The Asus models are already available or they'll be here with the next shipment? If don't want dedicated GPU, the spec is pretty much the same throughout the model like the Toshiba C640, Asus X42De, Acer 4253, Acer 4738Z, Inspiron 14, Samsung R429 etc... If want dedicated, there's Asus A42Jz, P6200 + AT iHD6470, freeDOS@RM1599... |

QUOTE(HaoYuan @ Feb 18 2011, 03:21 PM) hey may i know is this a good laptop? I think you should look at the real thing only then decide http://my.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=LH7QIKZgwwt718ZW cause it got lots of colour to choose and it quite good looking as i just use the laptop to surf the net, and some microsoft office staff only Never trust brochures The laptop is kind of glossy |

QUOTE(Koki @ Feb 20 2011, 06:05 PM) I'd go for ASUS Asus N43Jf will be pretty hard to find now Though I'm on the same situation as you are right now, choosing to wait and see price for N43SL or just go for the N43Jf now. Acer 4820TG I saw some reviews online saying that the screen flexes a lot when opening the lid by one corner. HP... SquareTrade's recent graph shows in 30k laptops each brand, HP's failure rate is like 30%Â The graph also shows that ASUS got number 1 in reliability... :hmmm: Though the graphs proof nothing since it's an insurance company SquareTrade's "recent" survey was done a very long time ago haha If can find the N43Jf then it would be great, if not, then its either Acer 4820TG or Toshiba Satellite L645-1123/24/25/26 Personally I don't really like the HP G42, especially the poor touchpad and the overall cheap feeling, but that's just me la hehe This post has been edited by [PF] T.J.: Feb 20 2011, 06:25 PM |

QUOTE(Raymond7693 @ Feb 20 2011, 07:19 PM) I'm looking to buy a new laptop in the region of rm 1.5k-1.6k For that price range its virtually impossible to find a good lappy with great specs and long battery life. The closest one would be Acer 3820TG at approx. RM2.1k i need good specs and most importantly long battery life and laptops that is recommended???? The one recommended by Marcus is powerful for the price but battery life is average only. Still it depends on how you define your "long battery life" haha |

Just plug charger + battery, no need plug into lappy to charge. Something like these?:http://www.laptop-battery.org/universal-battery.htm If not, try this: |

Hi guys, I was wondering whether you guys could give me some recommendations of currently available laptops?
Budget is max. RM2.5k; size 14 inch. Will be used for normal usage only, no gaming at all, dedicated GPU is not needed.. I only know a few models, want to find out if there's more of them Thanks in advance |

Just recommend me anything as long as its not Mac lol. The price is too good for the specs *Sarcasm* Preferred size 13 inch? This post has been edited by [PF] T.J.: Feb 20 2011, 10:28 PM |

QUOTE(chiahau @ Feb 20 2011, 10:29 PM) A bit game, a bit photoshop + LR3 also. No need so extreme coz I wont play max spec. Then the U36Jc will do just fine Prefer light and powerful also, if possible. But personally I would prefer the U41Jf with a better GPU... the Nvidia G310M in the U36Jc is not exactly very good (even for older games)... I would prefer sacrificing a little bit of portability (U36Jc 1.7kg; u41Jf 2.0kg) for an extra optical drive and power hehe Can consider the significantly cheaper Acer 3820TG and 4820TG as well |

LOL, for girl ar? Suddenly thought of Lenovo's Ideapad U460
Can consider that one as well, its light and powerful but don't have optical drive (14 inch)... Even though its running on relatively lower specs, the looks alone will melt a girl's heart This post has been edited by [PF] T.J.: Feb 20 2011, 10:47 PM |

LOL, don't worry... the "lower spec" is almost similar to that of the U36Jc

QUOTE(chiahau @ Feb 20 2011, 11:04 PM) It runs on Nvidia G305M The weakest dedicated Nvidia 300 series GPU It depends on what games she'll be playing lo... Oh ya, there's also the Lenovo Z360 which is also very similar in terms of specs with the U36Jc, just that its 2.0kg instead, and cheaper by around RM500 |

Acer's 3820/4820TG are the best you can get for that price range There's Toshiba units with almost similar specs but they are more expensive by ~RM100-200 and does not have such long battery lives as that of the Acers This post has been edited by [PF] T.J.: Feb 21 2011, 01:00 PM |
