Getting Started

Hey Guys,
I am planning to buy a laptop with budget of +- 3k. Preferable Asus because of its 2 years global warranty due to the fact that i am going oversea for study. I will do a lot of photoshop and Full HD video editing such as After Effect etc.. So, i do not want the waiting process to be slow. (Like my current laptop, it takes me 20mins to open a full HD video file on Movie maker). I am thinking of getting a i7 with Sandy Bridge, but would it be necessary? Any recommendation?
EDIT: i would like to have good speakers and HD screen too.

But would it be a waste to get Sandy Bridge because i dont know whether the video editing and photoshop need that 2nd gen i7. BTW, does this laptop come with built-in subwoofer and 720p screen?

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Jan 22 2011, 04:03 PM) The M11x is not a bad laptop at all apart from being underpowered abit Q1: Different people have different views on the screen sizes. Personally I like small screens hehe So I guess its totally up to you. Can get an external monitor if viewing is a problem Q2: No idea haha Q3: Typing on a 11.6-12.1 subnotebook depends on the keyboard quality/ergonomics. The keyboard on the M11x is quite good and will do fine. Not sure about long term typing though.... but that can be solved by simply getting an external keyboard la hehe QUOTE(duabijitelur @ Jan 22 2011, 04:11 PM) just becarefull of the hinge problem .. or u can ask abt M11x at here http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1711798/If only in there they reply like u guys.
