Omg.. Bro u bought used cd??
*
nope, i read that online and after going through the first post, thought it should be in there.
if possible even in the subtitle of the thread.

this is a huge mistake,IMO.
MMOs make money from monthly payments-why the restriction??

*i'm not crazy about MMOs, so wont be playing this blush.gif *

Can a new monthly subscribtion will activate the account?
*
once a disc is used, it cannot be used elsewhere.
so second hand value is non existent.

if you've bought the game, play it and love it.cos you wont be able to sell it.

IGN reports the somewhat surprising news that Sony Online Entertainment's DC Unverse Online is to go free to play this October. Both PS3 and PC players will be able to download and play the game for free, though there will be three tiers of subscription offers and microtransactions available to provide the game with several sources of revenue.

Anyone who hasn't played the game before will become a Free player. They'll have access to all of the current DC Universe Online gameplay, including Gotham City, Metropolis and all of the current raids and alerts. Free players will be able to create two characters, join a League and purchase upgrades such as new adventures, additional character slots and powers as they wish.

Anyone who has spent at least $5 -- including former subscribers and those who have purchased over $5 through microtransactions -- will become Premium members. These players will have extra character slots, additional inventory slots and higher limits on the amount of cash they can hold on their character, but will not be required to pay for a subscription.

Finally, those willing to pay $14.99 per month will become Legendary members. These players will receive all DLC packs at no cost along with 15 character slots, 80 inventory slots and no restrictions on the size of their League.

Those who purchased a lifetime subscription to the game on its launch will find that this deal still stands, allowing them to make full use of the Legendary member benefits. Once the game switches to free to play, the game will stop auto-renewing subscriptions, allowing players to easily pay as they play rather than having money siphoned out of their account each month for a game they might now be playing.

"I don't know about you, but my credit card statement every month is this amalgam of s*** of MMOs that I'm too lazy to cancel," said Lorin Jameson, executive producer at Sony Online Entertainment. "What we want is to offer people a way to not worry about that."

DC Universe Online launched as a full-price PC and PS3 product in January of this year, making it just nine months before the game ditched mandatory subscription fees in favor of the free to play model. But Jameson claims that this move is not a response to dwindling subscriber numbers -- rather, it was always the intention.

"This is the right business model," he explained. "If I can be honest, the game ended up costing a lot more than we thought it would, and this was our preferred business model from day one."

In the meantime, current subscribers will be able to acquire the recently-released Green Lantern DLC for free rather than the original price of $9.99.

Just started my download a few minutes ago. I'd say the servers are much better now, no more hanging midway-at least not yet.

I remember back during the beta, the download would just hang halfway for no reason sleep.gif

Getting a steady 1MBps thumbup.gif
At this rate should be done within 4 hours or so

Added on November 3, 2011, 1:09 amAfter 10 mins, left 13770 MB. 5% done

wait so u guys mean the 14gig download happens only when you load up the game? not in xmb?

cham lo my line 1mb only. ok la can skip this for now...till i can find a disc.
*
just leave your ps3 on overnight for a few nights.
not like you're using your ps3 while you're asleep or at work tongue.gif

if you do find a disc, it's RM100+ rclxub.gif why pay when you can get it for free?
there's no guarantee you wont still have to download in game updates, either.

But if we purchase the DISC version, we are automatically granted to "Premium Access" for the life of our PSN account.
A slight difference from the "Free Access" version.
*
still cheaper for you to download and buy the DLC which will grant you premium access for the entire lifespan of the game and at the same time give you the Green Lantern Corp DLC smile.gif

ofcourse,im not saying you HAVE TO DOWNLOAD IT, but if at all possible, go for the cheaper route-which is to download it.

just think about this; if you buy the game at RM100++ (RM150?RM190?) and the game servers close down-you'll be left with an expensive paper weight.
whereas if you download it, you just need to delete the game-no fuss no mess

Well said....
Thanks for the info.

Will downloading mine tonight........instead of buying the disc version.
*
it's actually what i've been thinking of doing.
got my $10 from the US PSN offer last month, so figured it'd be just nice to use for DCUO's expansion.

but ofcourse, I'm off to play the game first laugh.gif

no point buying DLC for something i MIGHT not like doh.gif laugh.gif

if download+buy DLC=RM40(worst case scenario)=premium membership
if buy disc+DLC=RM230(worst case scenario) rclxub.gif sweat.gif =premium membership

QUOTE
If you buy a few of the awesome items in our marketplace or a DLC pack (totaling at least $5), then you’ll get permanently bumped up to Premium Access, which gives you extra features such as more character and inventory slots. You can continue to play at Premium Access for as long as you want with the option to purchase extra features, or jump in to a Legendary membership for a monthly fee and get access to maximum game features and all DLC packs.

server has been hammered, so it may go up and down.
if there's an error, assume the server has been taken offline

weapon spoiled where to repair????

im a victim of this,too sweat.gif

if weapons can degrade to the point of breaking, what about those skills that dont have weapons?
will their hands get weaker or something?(hand combat) or magic get weaker?

dont tell me they dont have a similiar system?that's not fair sleep.gif

Added on November 10, 2011, 4:24 pmbtw, is there really no way to escape that dull intro?
i mean when you first break free.
i find it very dull and pointless..once should be enough..after that for every other character we create they should just show a cinematic or something sleep.gif

imagine creating 4,6,8 characters..have to go through the same damn intro over and over again..fighting the same guys over and over again rclxub.gif
