Gameplay

DC Universe Online is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) set in the DC Universe. Sony Online Entertainment's stated goal is to make a different kind of MMORPG, with The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction cited as one of the main inspirations for gameplay. SOE is working to make DC Universe Online more interactive than standard MMORPGs, while trying to keep their key elements, which include a leveling system, raid instances, endgame progression and inventories. The world is mainly shared, public space instead of heroes or villains owning territory. The public space features dynamically-generated content designed for both hero and villain player characters (uniquely created by the player, who cannot choose DCU stalwarts).

Players will choose a mentor for their character (such as Superman, Batman or Wonder Woman for heroes and Lex Luthor, The Joker, or Circe for villains). Their starting location, principal quest rewards and mob loot will be influenced by that decision. The starting zones are either Metropolis or Gotham City, for both heroes and villains. Heroes can also go to the Justice League Watchtower, while villains can enter the Legion of Doom headquarters. Other zones can be reached by teleporters from the two faction headquarters.

Each character is given a communicator appropriate to their faction, via which they receive urgent communications from their mentor and his/her colleagues and subordinates; heroes will frequently receive status updates from Oracle, while villains will receive data from The Calculator. In addition to assignments from their mentor, player characters may also receive requests for help from other mentors of the same faction. Player characters may also accept missions from non-player characters (NPCs) in the street, usually minor characters from their faction. There are also opportunities for quick street encounters appropriate to the character's faction: for example, a hero character may encounter a thug robbing an armored truck, trying to break into an office building, or in the process of mugging a citizen; while a villain character may be presented with opportunities to assist NPC thugs with an armored truck robbery, or assault a citizen using an ATM. All NPC interactions are fully animated and voice-acted. Player characters will earn threat ratings that will cause NPC heroes and villains to interact accordingly with the character.

The shared worldspace offers primarily solo and team player versus environment (PvE) gaming opportunities in the form of open air missions and instances, although player versus player (PvP) combat is also possible in this worldspace. Other PvP (and to a smaller extent, PvE) gaming is available in various types of queued instanced encounters: "Legends", small scale PvP combats in which players take on the identities of iconic characters (continued success in Legends combat unlocks additional iconic characters); "Arena", small scale PvP combat in which players fight as their own characters; "Alerts", cooperative team missions; and "Raids", large scale PvP combat between teams of opposing factions. Success in PvE missions is rewarded with in-game money, costume pieces, equipment and consumables, while PVP combat is rewarded with unlocks of special equipment sets.

Newbie Guide

I decided to make this guide to help players who are new to MMO's or any online RPGs in general. Early on in DCUO, for character levels 1-8, it may not matter as much to get serious about grouping. If you are playing just to test the waters and mess around a little bit, then you probably won't need this guide since that's just not your gaming preference.

This quick guide will go over the basics of party dynamics and good team strategies that your fellow team mates will appreciate, and naturally take on much tougher enemies who you'd otherwise fail to defeat. This becomes more apparent later on when you hit around lvls 15-20 in the Alerts. Maybe even earlier. It depends on the player. I'll will try and keep this simple and as in general as possible so there is room for opinion. This is just from my perspective, and experience. Ok, so let's start...

Oh, and before I begin, let me remind all of you passing through to please vote up or down on this post so it gets the attention by the people who need this info the most. Thank You.

A list of some terms ahead of time so you know what they mean down the road...

BUFF - Positive status effects casted on you by you OR by someone else. Usually on for a duration or just turned on. These effects can make you do more damage, regenerate health or regenerate power. Depends on what class you or the other persons are.

DEBUFF - Negative status effects casted on you OR on your enemy. Usually on for a duration. These effects can make you/enemies do less damage, have less health as a %. Depends on what class you or the other enemies are.

DOT - damage over time

AOE - area of effect. example: an explosion doing splash damage. it can pertain to buffs aoe or debuffs aoe too.

REGEN - regeneration of mana or health.

HOT - heal over time.

TANK - a hero who's main role is to take damage for the team. The wall, the first line and main line of defense.

LVL - what character level you are.

AGRO - aggression. threat level, the ememies attention to a team mate.

ADD - a respawned or wandering enemy who jumps into a fight unexpectedly. "Oi, we got 5 adds behind us!"

INSTANCE - a generated place for the group to privately explore. usually indoor by apearance. alerts, raids, duos(?), Arenas are all instances.

1.) CHOOSE YOUR ROLE (Class) AHEAD OF TIME

What do you want to be? DEFENDING, HEALING, CONTROLING? Note: Play as a Role that you would have the most fun being, obviously.

2.) GROUP DYNAMICS

Once you start playing the harder/higher lvl modes in DCUO (Alerts, Raids, Group PVP.), you will have to play in full groups or raids to be effective completing the missions that give the most gains in terms of experience or loot. To have an effective group you need one of each class type working together in a synergy that is not only effective, but very fun to be a part of! It basically works like this... A.) Tank << B.) Controler << C.) Healer. Note: this can be improvised with some other combination but I am going over a tried and true dynamic. It totaly depends on situation and whats available.

A.) A Tank is built to take the most damage so that the Healer only has to heal 1 group memeber. AND, keep all enemy agro (attention) to the Tank. The Tank pulls enemies to itself and keeps them on him at all times while the Healer keeps him alive.

B.) This is where the Controler can help as a primary or secondary task depending on the situiaton. Which is, power regenration. This power "regen" helps the whole team (most importantly the healer) so the team as a whole can keep casting more powers and survive longer. Controlers also stun/distract/encase tight groups that might be surrounding the Tank which in turn alleviates the Healer from healing too often and going zero on power meter. Stunning/distracting/encasing a Tank's attackers will drasticlly reduce damage being pounded into the Tank.

C.) The Healer that heals one player (Tank) uses less power than the heal that has to heal the whole group. If the power runs out on the healer, then the tank will most likley die and the team as a whole will follow suit, like a stack of cards. The healer also can buff allies to regen health among other things that benefit the tank or whole group.

A+B+C Battle plan Summary...

Tanks grab/pull enemies to the group and keeps pounding AOEs and/or (if implemented soon) Taunts. The Controler quickly steps in by "locking down" the battle with stuns/distractions/encasements. The controller makes sure the least amount of damage is being done to the Tank through crowd control and debuffs. Also to help keep everyone's power meter filled as much as possible. All so that the healer's job is less stressful. The Healer will keep a vigilant eye on the tank as a priority with the readyness to see that someone else's life is in danger and will quickly adjust on the fly.

3.) ANGER MANAGEMENT

Everything you do as an aciton, even if its a heal or a buff on a team mate, will cause the enemy to AGRO you more. That's ... short for "aggression". Tanks need to keep all AGRO at all times or else, like I mentined above, the healer will waste too much power, too fast healing too frequently. So, be aware that: Heals, Buffs, Debuffs, Punches, Kicks, Attacks, slightly brushing up against, all draws AGRO. If DCUO follows other MMO/RPGs, then heals are the most hated. I've heard Controlers' debuffs/buffs are the most hated. I am not 100% sure in this area. This is one of the most nuanced aspects of AGRO managment. Knowing when you have to take it easy on causing more agro than the Tank is. The Tank doesn't have to worry about this. The Tanks job is to take/genrate all the AGRO and then some. All with a smile on the face asking for more. Keep this in mind.

4.) SITUATIONAL / TACTICAL AWARENESS

I can't stress enough how important this is once you understand the group dynamics. Important things to consider and be aware of at all times...

A.) Postioning - Always fight from the outside area in. Never drop down in the middle and start hacking away. You'll hit respawns or adds and it can be a matter of life and death at that point.

B.) Enemy Types - Example: can Enemy-X pull you towards him? Very important to know which enemies have the nasty stuff. If you unexpectedly get pulled deep into a group where tactical positioning becomes compromised then death will be there to greet you with open arms.

C.) Watching Each Others Back, Communicating - Always. Look. Eveywhere. lol. Get me? Look all around while fighting just to make sure nothing else wanders into a fight. Inform the proper role that X is about to happen and be ready for it. Give a heads up. This all seems like a no brainer, but to a beginer in a really hard battle, you might not be thinking about it. Start forming this habit early on. Don't forget to keep an eye on the chat box too, just in case someone doesn't have a mic on. Or it glitchs out.

D.) Enemies Respawning Rates - Good to know if you are fighting in the same area when other competing groups are present. Just a general idea works wonders. Note: May not matter (probably won't) in Raids or any other Indoor (instanced) missions as enemies don't repawn indoors as far as I know.

E.) Power Interactions - A few powers have, in thier description, power interactions which are how they interact with other power effects that are still present on an enemy target. Example: If Ememy-W is frozen by Power-X, then Power-Y, will cause Explosion-Z to happen, hurting other enemies around the target. So, if you know what Class Roles are in your group ask which powers they use and coordinate a combination of power interactions to get the most bang for your buck. You can also create your own power interactions by picking the right powers in your Loadouts.

5.) ETIQUETTE

Everyone is a link in a chain and getting long with everyone is very important. Be pollite. It's crucial to leave arrogance, vanity and all that crap in the kiddy corner when playing in groups. Anyone can run around spamming powers very quickly, my granny can do that. What skilled players really appreciate are how well you played your role to make each memebers time playing that more enjoyable and maybe finding new friends that last throughout your time with DCUO.

As for group loot, NBG (need before greed). follow those rules and people will respect you for it. Don't need it? Pass it. Wan't it anyways? Then greed it. "Pass" option will always have priority over greed. If your team mates see that you chose "Need" on an item that isn't even for your class then that will have a negative effect on how others see you in thier group if someone else needed it. That could cause problems down the road. This is a social game if you choose to play in groups, and repuation is everything... and it has to be earned. People will remember you especially if you piss them off. It's a smaller world than you think.

Closing Notes: I didn't mention a damage role as a fourth class since since DCUO allows all classes to be damage type. In my humble option, I feel that right now playing as your pure class role is far more effective than just the damage role in a group dynamic. IF, and I stress IF, you manage your power pool properly. Keep in mind that in damage role you miss out on a lot of debuffs/buff and major power interactions between your other group member's status effects, or your own. Which in turn can produce far more damage as a group.

Tier 1/Light Blue/Common: Common Drop, also easily found on vendors.
Tier 2/Green/Uncommon: Uncommon Drop.
Tier 3/Dark Blue/Rare: Rare Drop. Final bosses or end of a storyline reward.
Tier 4/Purple/Legendary: Ultrarare Drop. Some final bosses, raid dropped or found in raid equipment vendors.

Here are stats information.
Power is your blue bar that depletes when you cast spells. (Below Health)

Health measures how long a character can withstand being knocked out (KO) during combat. Represented via a bar, once a character's health reaches zero, they are knocked out until a set time elapses, after which the player can chose to either revive their character where they were knocked out (if another player has revived them) or revive them a set distance away from where they were knocked out. Health automatically recovers when out of combat.

Power is required to use a character's powers and is drained as they are performed. Power builds during weapon attacks as shown by the hit counter; Power also regenerates slowly out of combat.

Defense reduces damage from non-player enemies; the higher your level, the more defense is required.
1% damage reduction = 15 Defense (Level 1) and 71 Defense (Level 30)

Might increases the amount of damage that a character's powers can inflict.
4 might =1% base damage.

Restoration increases healing as well as the regeneration speed for Health.
4 Restoration =1% base healing increase.

Vitalization increases Power healing effects.
10 Vitalization = 1% Power generation increase.

Precision increases a character's accuracy, enabling them to hit more frequently and adds damage to all weapon attacks.
10 Precision = +1 DPS

Toughness reduces damage inflicted by player characters. The higher your level, the more Toughness is required.
1% damage reduction = 15 toughness (Level 1) and 71 Toughness (Level 30)

Dominance increases the number of health points lost by a target before a Control effect ends. At high levels, Dominance must be higher than enemy Willpower to be effective.
2 Dominance = 1 additional damage before control breaks.

Willpower determines a character's resilience against Control effects.

Here are a few checklist do this before entering the game

1) Make sure Bluetooth is turn on
2) Go to Accessory Setting->Manage Bluetooth Device and make sure it is connected and then go to Accessary Settings->Audio Setting and make sure the input and output is set to you BT device
3) Start the game
4) After logging in go into option and then go to Voice Chat and turn it on
5) Go to the social tab (The one with the big chat box) and select the chat tab on the upper left corner and change it to voice.
6) Select the tab on top of the voice to change it to League or Group to select channel.

GUIDE FOR LVL 30

Hello everybody,
this guide is for all the players who just reached level 30 and now are a little lost and don't know exactly what to do next. It also covers the different Marks, where to get them and where to spend them.
It is written mainly for heroes, but I think villains will find most of it helpful as well.

1) Getting a blue level 30 Weapon

This is where I would start, since it is very easy and can make a huge difference.
Under the Meta wing in the Watchtower you can find the vendors for all blue level 30 PvP items, purple trinkets and accessory and characters for Legends PvP. You can ignore most of the stuff here for now, especially if you are not interested in PvP, but you can get a decent weapon here (also decent for PvE!).
They have more DPS than anything you could find in Challenges and it will probably take you a while until you find something better in Duos (the weapons there have the same DPS, but might have better stats for your role). And you have to start somewhere, right?
The weapons cost 250 Influence (skull symbol), meaning you have to do some PvP matches first (Legends, Arena, Ring War). You get 25 Influence for losing, 50 Influence for winning and some Influence for kills or assists (meaning you have damaged a target, but someone else killed it). It shouldn't take you too long to get the 250 Influence and since you can earn it already at lower levels you will probably already have some.

2) Challenge Missions
Rewards: 2 Marks of Allegiance

There are two terminals in each wing of the Watchtower, giving you one mission each, making a total of six Challenge Missions. You will have done an easier version of some of these missions before (depending on your Mentor), while others are completely new to you. You can do Challenge Missions only alone! Heroes get the missions with following bosses at the end:

Faust
Raven/Trygon
Dr. Psycho
Spectre
Harley Quinn
Robin/Poison Ivy

After you have picked up these missions in the Watchtower, you can simply activate them and follow the quest marker. They are located where the easier versions were, but have a separate entrance. I think you should start with Faust, Raven or Harley, but you might find others easier.
But be prepared! All of them are considerably harder than what you have faced before. Some general tips are:
- take only one group of enemies at a time
- make good use of your abilities
- use Soder Colas if needed
- wait to regenerate health between fights
- use orange barrels in boss fights or larger groups
Mobs will drop green level 30 items, maybe some of them are better than what you got from previous missions, bosses drop a blue level 30 item and sometimes even a purple. Their quality is under the stuff you get from Duos and Hard Alerts, though.
Challenge Missions will also give you +125 Renown with the related faction and you can do each once per day.

3) Duos
Rewards: 1 Mark of Triumph, 1 Mark of Distinction (only for the Duo with the golden star)

Duos are, as the name suggests, for two players. They also are harder versions of missions you might have done before, but they also have additional bosses that are completely new. You can access them by simply queuing for them. Heroes have the following Duos:

Grodd's Lab
Hive Base
Gotham University
OMAC Base

You can basically start doing them once you have a suitable weapon and a bit confidence in your skills. You might actually find them easier than the Challenge Missions, but that depends on your partner.
The easiest Duo is certainly Grodd's Lab, that's what you should try first. The others are a bit more difficult, but it's hard to say in which order. General tips are the same as for the Challenges, but additionally:
- do what is expected from your role (as Healer also heal your partner, as Controller restore his power)
- work as a team
- communicate with your partner if there are problems
- only press Need on items that you actually can equip and which are better than what you currently have
- press Greed or Pass on everything else
There is a blue vendor machine at the start of each Duo where you can buy Colas and repair your items.
Drops are a bit better than in Challenges and often role specific. Bosses drop a blue item, the last boss also has a chance to drop a purple item.
You can get Marks once a day from each Duo.

4) Hard Alerts
Rewards: 1 Mark of Triumph per Boss, 2 Marks of Distinction at the last boss (only in the Hard Alert with the golden star)

This is where it really begins to get hard and where you need good teamwork. Hard Alerts are for groups of four players and you should have one of each role, Tank, Healer, Controller and DPS. You can queue for them by going to "Alerts" and then switching to the "Hard Alerts" tab. Same general tips as for Challenges and Duos apply, but additionally:
- let the Tank start each fight
- stick together
- focus on your role
- protect the Healer
- communicate even more
- if you get aggro on a boss and you are not the Tank, do everything you can to survive (rolling, survival abilities, colas) until the Tank gets aggro again
Colas and repairs are available at a vendor or vendor machine in the starting area of each Hard Alert. The drops are better than drops from Duos and if you are lucky you can get a nice weapon specific for your role from them. You can get the Marks once each day from each Hard Alert.

a) Area 51
This is where you should start, since it is the easiest one. You should have completed each of the Duos and wear mostly blue (or purple if you got lucky) items.
If you die in a bossfight you can quickly run/fly back after respawning and if you're lucky the rest of your group was able to survive without you and you can continue fighting.

b) ACE Chemicals/Watchtower Containment Facility
If everything went fine in Area 51 you could try these two with the same group. If not, wait until you have more blue items and maybe your first purple Iconic item. They are more difficult and you will be locked out from most boss rooms if you die. The bosses also require more teamwork and tactics, so it's best if one member of your group has already done them and knows what to do.

c) Smallville/Arkham Asylum/Stryker's Island
These are the more difficult ones. You should have two pieces of Iconic gear and the rest blue. Also, you should really know how to play your role by now. And of course bosses require special strategies again.

5) Raids
Rewards: 3-4 Marks of Distinction per boss

Since this is only an Introduction Guide, I will make it short (at least for now).
Raids are for experienced groups of eight players. It is highly recommended that you've completed all of the Hard Alerts, have at least two pieces of iconic gear and have worked as a team before.
Currently Available are The Batcave (Outer Caverns) and Khandaq. They can be done once each week.

6) Arena PvP and Legends PvP
Rewards: Influence, Marks of Legends, Marks of Victory

There are different kinds of PvP matches, but in all of them you get the same rewards. For losing you get 25 Influence, 1 Mark of Legends and 1 Mark of Victory. For winning you get double the amount. You get additional Influence for each kill/assist.
In Arena matches you fight with your own hero/villain, including your own gear. To help your survivability you should get PvP gear which has Toughness, the PvP equivalent of Defense. Having Defense won't help you at all.
In Legends matches you fight as an Iconic character, such as Robin, Bane, The Joker and more. Your own gear and abilities won't matter at all.

a) Capture the Flag
In this mode the first team to get 100 points wins.
Your team gets 5 points if you kill a player of the opposite team and 25 if you can steal the "Flag" (a big stone) from the enemy's base and bring it to your own.

b) King of the Hill
In this mode both teams start with 1000 points and the first team that drops to 0 points loses.
There are one ore more "Hills" (white circles if neutral) on the map. If you stand on a Hill and no enemy does, the enemy team loses points.

c) Capture the Zones
This mode is similar to King of the Hill, but you don't have to stay in the Zones to make your enemy lose points. Instead it takes a bit longer to capture them.

7) Marks

I've mentioned where to get them before and have seen lots of people ask about them. So here is what you can do with each of them:

a) Influence:
Buy blue PvP gear with it. A complete set costs 1700 Influence. Vendor machines located under the Meta wing.

b) Marks of Allegiance
Buy blue faction gear with it. One faction vendor in each wing.
Trade 10 of them for 1 Mark of Victory or Triumph. two of the faction vendors will give you Triumph, the third will give you Victory.

c) Marks of Legend
Buy characters for Legends PvP with them. Vendor machine located under the Meta wing.

d) Marks of Victory
Buy the purple Iconic PvP set for your Origin with them. Vendor located in the wing of your Origin.
Buy the purple PvP accessories and trinkets with them. Vendor machine located under the Meta wing.
Buy the purple PvP weapons and a special trenchcoat with them. Vendor can only be found after winning Ring War, near the zone where to deliver the objects.

e) Marks of Triumph
Buy the first (tier 1) purple Iconic PvE set for your Origin with them.Vendor located in the wing of your Origin.

f) Marks of Distinction
Buy the second (tier 2) purple Iconic PvE set for your Origin with them.Vendor located in the wing of your Origin.

8) Final Words

CLASSES REVIEW


Ice Tanker
My first class. I like tanking but this game sometimes does not reward tanking instead kills it. Tanker are suppose to adsorb as much damage as possible and remain aggro.

PROS
+Can solo almost all mission easily
+Great defense with a selected build only

CONS
-Almost useless in group instances without Healer
-Does not dish out damage as much as like it
-Big hole in the pocket
-Defense buff spells consumes too much power

I find tanking in this game a bit weird. Tankers are suppose to take damage but i find it a bit weird in this game. I will list down my problems.
1) Insane defense. Which is a good thing right?
2) Not much skills go into def. I know there are skills which increases defense but that is not what i meant. I wonder how can every damage spell increases damage for a period of time. Why his cannot be done for tanker role also? We have to switch role to receive our bonus and take a damage penalty. With the damage reduction we deal low damages with our spells and get no bonuses. But we need them to maintain aggro.
3) Cost of healing items are too expensive. It is hard to keep buying sodas and not tempted to hit need everytime a group loot is on. We need the extra money because when we go into instances we are spamming sodas like mad for health.
4) Your are the first to die, your other team mate has a chance to run when seeing your life low. This makes repair armor a little pain in the behind.
5) No in battle regeneration, i know it going to be imba but at least give 25% normal regen or something. Sometimes your group mate keep luring and you cant try and escape to regen.
6) Blocking is useless. I know that it reduces damage but in order to maintain aggro you must keep attacking. Don't you see a problem there?
7) On high level dous (OMAC) their are bosses which regen their health. They can easily outlast tankers who are without healers.
8) To get your defense and aggro to a good level you also need a controller to maintain aggro because only offensive spells taunt enemies. But you have to choose, if you aggro you sometimes find out that you run out of power for defense buff which is also useless if your going to aggro and just die quickly.

Conclusion
Tanker in this game is a needed but not necessary. This is because of the health regen system there are times where you feel like your are in a dead end. Tankers need healers no matter what so sadly this also means tankers are too depended on healers and their power bar. I wish they can be more independent in tanking and doing their job without much help.

Fire DPS
My second character now level 15. I can tell you im already doing much better then my tanker. This is because every equip gives defense. True that a tanker has increased defense because of their role but killing people faster also reduces the amount of damage our receive overtime.

PROS
+Insane Damage
+Cost efficient
+Good with any element and any build
+Less aggro
+Damage spells are low power consumption

CONS
-Has problem solo

So DPS is a every element class. I see no drawback in being a DPS unlike tank where they reduce your damage. DPS classes can give more choices to your skills and lets you experiment with different builds.

1) Has problem solo early on with the 3-4 boss fights where you armor and damage are not yet able to allow you to solo.
2) Finding equipment which increases you damage can be very hard with weapon drops harder since there are more weapon classes then armor classes in the game.
3) Can choose between spells(Power dependent) or attack(Not Power dependent) to dish out damage.
4) A little light on the armor.
5) Can mix with any class.

Conclusion
I seem to find less weakness in DPS classes then tank. In tank you are bound to take only 1 skill tree set. As DPS you can take almost every skill in the skill tree and still be strong. Even certain defensive skills with increases defense also increases damage. I see this as a better option already then a tanker.

or must join in groups to tackle boss?

well base on what i survey this game still have solo quest and group quest.

for high lvl quest you still need to form up a group.

and it seem like they put more afford on single quest atm rather then group quest.

Seems like everyone is waiting for the review.
From winter review i think this game is playable, we should give it a try. Monthly subscription makes the game much more perfect and stable

Thinking of getting this but my only question is:

On unifi, how smooth is it (in terms of latency)?

retail ver is different than the beta version, they should have fixed those crashes....

since its a dedicated server in US, just like MAG server, should be stable.

The game is almost unplayable at the moment. Mostly Asian region players are faced with the deadly freezing issue.
I have seen alot of players complaining about the freezing issue in the official SOE DCUO forum however there are still
no official word on the progress of fixing the freezing issue, they only said their technical people will look into the problem.

Yeap, many people requested additional days from SOE as they are not able to play the game and days are wasting,
how nice if they would give us an additional month of free play after the freezing issue is fixed haha.

yup, last night i was facing problems of freezing.
Always freeze after the 1st few minutes.
Seems like all players in Asia ( Msia, Spore, Indon, Philips ) and some US, Canada players are facing this problem too.
Last night at least can login and see my character for 2~3 minutes before it freeze.
This morning until now totally cannot login, keep getting stuck at "Checking Game Assets (0%)"

I hope the freezing issues get fixed 'cause I really wanna play this game... If there was a GL mentor...

Haha me too, actually before this i have no idea what are Green Lantern's powers ( as i dont read DC Comics, only watch Batman )
But after watching Justice League : Crisis on two earths cartoon.
I find Green Lantern's power to be somewhat unique and stunning.

The US servers will be coming down at 4 AM PT January 13th for a hotfix to address a few outstanding issues. Downtime is anticipated to be less than 3 hours. Players may notice the following changes:

All versions

-General: Added some client performance optimizations.
-Alerts: At the end of Area 51 players should now always find themselves in the same final boss instance as the rest of their group.
-Missions: In the Pest Control mission, Queen Bee has lost her ability to teleport through walls thus preventing player’s from defeating her.
-UI: Elements of the UI should no longer be visible during cutscenes.
-UI: After shape changing the style tab should no longer have “N/A” appearance slots.

PS3 Only

-Gameplay: Addressed an issue where players could occasionally fall through the world when zoning or moving around the cities.
-General: Improved client performance and stability.
-Missions: What’s the only thing worse than running into your character’s nemesis in game? Running into a door that won’t open. Players should no longer be foiled by those dastardly doors not opening in instances.

Yup, you need to use a US PSN. Doesnt work on our Malaysian PSN from what i heard.
The activation codes are meant for R1 so its not compatible with our Asian PSN.

Hmm ok, that kind of sucks.. hmm another question is, what about monthly payments? Do we have to pay it via PSN account or a separate payment method? like maybe a web based payment etc?

I previously had a US account that was blocked because I was using Entropay i had so much stuff bought there . I started a new one to buy DA DLCs but I'm worried if this US account get closed again, I'd lose all the time put into the game.

From what i heard, either pay by credit card or buy US PSN reload card.

you will have to go through some kind of tutorial or prologue mission.
Everyone freeze after around 2~3 mins of play time starting from the mission.

So very rarely someone will be able to complete that mission and get into the DCUO world.

Most American players arent affected, so they can still enjoy the bloody game while we have to sit and wait... and watch youtube =(

Erm i dont think so bro, cause i heard those fortunate people who pass the tutorial mission also experience freezing issue after that.
Meaning once they login, after around 2 ~ 3 minutes then kena freeze and forced to hard reset the PS3..

Yup, with a mic you can voice chat.

Voice chat can be heard by your league mates ( guild mates ) if you are in a league.

Voice chat can only be heard by your group, if you group up with people (even if you are in a league)

Voice chat cannot be heard by normal chat... otherwise the game will become like pasar, damn noisy haha.

ok guys base on last night well not really night la around this morning 12.30am for the 1st time I manage to play for more then 30min. To those who still have freeze problem all i can suggest is 2 thing:

1-Wait for new patch AGAIN!!!
2-Find a new server

like my self i create a new HERO in one of new PvP server. Kinda surprise you know haha... but ouch i forgot which server i play coz kinda sleepy.... So stay tune will update once i know my server name hahah.....

so all i can say this is fun game something different then other mmorpg game.

Winter help post this in first page to clear things up.

1) US PSN account is needed to play. You cannot change account to SG or MY account after redeeming from US account. Only US PSN can play the game. (AKA This game is region locked.)
2) This is a Pay-to-Play game.
3) There is no single player option.
4) No R3 or R4 region of the game has been announce only R1 and R2. So choose which server you want to play in. I doubt EU server will be better then US.

I dunno why they stated that maybe it is shipping of the R1 version to Asia but you cant find a R3 version or R4 version anywhere in the market.

i guess there will be R1 mean they will open server for Asia if not mistake err confuse confuse

EU and AUS getting their own server soon... But if not wrong all will go to US server like MAG. I cant see that they will separate the servers... (Like how you can add friends from other PSN)
