Nah, it's better to stick with something good even u don't need it but have the budget. U may not drive fast but having a Merc is better than Protons right?
No offense to Proton users.

Actually even high end gaming laptop is still not as powerful as desktop. U don't play at anywhere right since gaming requires huge battery as the GPU needs the power to function well.

If I only want the gaming experience, definitely will go for desktop.smile.gif
But that's just for me, I know there are some who dislike the space needed and wires but it's okay for me.smile.gif

Maybe the seller jacked up the price.... What a common practice when the product is hot lol...

I remember seeing another forummer bought his Y560p for RM3099 also...
*
QUOTE(metaloid @ Jan 17 2011, 11:25 PM)
i think that the sellers are purposely jacking up the price with reasons that its the new generation processor, high demands and not everyone has the stock yet. since its already so cheap people would still love it without knowing the RRP.
*
Indeed it's true, I tried asking some seller for the price at shopping mall and they quote me RM3k

Lol, but don't think the price will increase as this is electronic stuff.

Just tested the battery life on it. Power saver can go up to 5hours and above.

Balanced mode about 2hours+, haven't try high performance yet as I'm outside now.

QUOTE(Dell2011 @ Jan 18 2011, 10:03 PM)
I dont think you'd be able to put in a SSD in a laptop unless the manufacturer has made a dedicated slot for an SSD drive. These laptops would advertise by saying its 'upgradable to an SSD', for example on the XPS 15. Non of these mid range new SB carrying laptops are really too customizable. However the Lenovo does have an addon option where where you can get a 'hybrid drive'....where it has a decently sized (32gb) SSD partition that you can install your OS onto.

Thats scary isnt it to send our laptop off in a flimsy courier bag....but yeh, thats how shit goes these days. A very good point you are making about the warranty though. The whole phenomenon of the 'warranty' is quite dodgy at best. It's more often than not a false promise, a marketing gimmick. But the Asus does offer that International warranty, where as the rest only give you a local/regional coverage. So I'd take the one that has a worldwide warranty, even though the chances of getting decent service is minimal. Less is better than zero eh...
*
Well, one can put in SSD to replace the HDD in the laptop. Then, the HDD can be put in an enclosure and act as an external storage. If it is advertised saying 'upgradable to an SSD', it can be done by the laptop manufacturer, but u can always do it on your own, just that it has no warranty for the SSD. International warranty, imho is only useful if one is going overseas with the laptop.

We could DIY....but I dont want to carry around an external drive with me, I'd rather have an SSD and a HDD both INSIDE my laptop...(the XPS and Lenovo does provide this option)
*
Lol, another option would be to replace the optical drive with the SSD and can keep both the HDD and SSD.

may i know what is the power consumption (idle & load) of 5750g, what is the power adapter rating? 95W? thks
*
Idle can go up to 6 hours or more.
Load depends how loaded it is. When I play games like Worms Reloaded, the temperature rise up to 60-70degree celcius and the fan blows more rapidly.
The battery can last about 2 hours or more when I refer to the battery life on the right bottom of the desktop.

So the only problem u are not happy is just the keyboard ? any other ?

hmm.gif I guess only the keyboard and the speakers. Compare to my friends Qosmio, the sound quality is quite huge but I can still tolerate with it.

^Installment payment can be made for credit card.
It depends on the dealer that have which bank to be affiliated with it.
Other source I'm not sure.
Hope this helps.

For me, I burn the recovery disc which is also called the factory disc(4 discs) then uninstall unwanted programmes.
Then only install the programmes I want and customize the laptop background screensaver, etc.
Now my laptop startup time is faster and cooler than before.

Haiz, just tested it with external keyboards, still the same problem.
I guess it's the hardware part.
I'm so unlucky.

The most important place to cool the laptop would only be the left side of the laptop. Can go up to 70-80+ degree when gaming.
