We could DIY....but I dont want to carry around an external drive with me, I'd rather have an SSD and a HDD both INSIDE my laptop...(the XPS and Lenovo does provide this option)

We should have the big market as well.
I'm pretty sure many can afford to pay MYR4000-4500 for an i7-6xx TimelineX.
I'd say local Acer dealer is doing something fishy or bad decision.

Lol, another option would be to replace the optical drive with the SSD and can keep both the HDD and SSD.

If u know most Malaysian's perception towards Acer product, I dun think that price could sell....

Even the Acer Ethos having a HD5850 selling around RM4.5k only dun have much ppl buying also...

We don't see i7-6xx in our market.
If Acer offered i7-6xx 1 year ago, which other brands don't - it will sell like hot cake.
If Acer offered 13" TimelineX with i7-6xx a year ago - it will sell like hot cake.

After owning few Nehalem notebooks, I still find the 13" TimelineX is the good looking and powerful laptop.
Acer was the first that offered 13" slim & sleek notebook with powerful CPU/GPU/battery life.
Asus U3XXX still has puny GPU until this very day.
That makes Acer an ideal choice - for those who love performance and sleek notebok with reasonable weight.

no,is not distributor who make decision
there is a company who distribute Acer and Asus, but no them who make decision which model to bring in

Ok, started off confusing, but I get it now..

It's like..

There's an Acer Sdn Bhd making decisions what models to sell in Malaysia
Then Acer allows the distributors to bring in certain laptops
Then distributors give the laptops to retailers to sell...

Am I correct in understanding that?

As for the perception of Acer...

Ever wondered how Acer manages to time and again low blow almost everyone in the market? The answer is Crapware. I've used Dell, HP and Lenovo, and Acer always manages to put in more crapware that all three combines. I mean, yes, understandable if you are installing your own branded software (Facial recognition, wireless manager etc) but Acer always manages to put in extras so much that some overlaps each other.

Those crapware however subsidizes the price of Acer, so it is lower. Among the things you'd always find on a new install Acer are :-

• Microsoft® Office Trial (Service Pack 2)
• Microsoft® Works 9
• Adobe® Flash® Player 10
• Adobe® Reader® 9.1
• eSobi™
• Google™ Setup
• Google Toolbar™
• Norton™ Online Backup
• McAfee® Internet Security Suite Trial
• MyWinLocker®
• NTI Media Maker™
• Oberon GameZone (except US, Canada, Hong Kong, Korea)
• Skype™
• eBay®

This does not take into account the other Acer branded software. However, spend some time reconfiguring, and uninstalling crapware makes your system a lot better.. tongue.gif

Idle can go up to 6 hours or more.
Load depends how loaded it is. When I play games like Worms Reloaded, the temperature rise up to 60-70degree celcius and the fan blows more rapidly.
The battery can last about 2 hours or more when I refer to the battery life on the right bottom of the desktop.
