Stop all torrents & media-streaming, then try again. Make sure none of your family members / housemates are running these applications too.

The next thing you can try would be to install Hotspot Shield. It's a free VPN & you only need to run it to get Steam connected. Disconnect from Hotspot Shield once you've logged into Steam.

have you tried resetting your adsl modem router to get a new ip address?

you need to close peerblock or peerguardian or similar program if you have those program(s) installed...

1. A lot people will choose to buy retail or from EA website because its cheaper most probably and some had pre-order it while it still not on steam. It is not a steamwork game so you wont see stuff like black ops etc since alot will be playing using EADM too.

2. I believe if u can play bad company 2, u can run battlefield 3 too.

3. Quite late since BF3 not coming out so soon. EA and Steam got a bad relationship =x Actually quite shock to see EA sell games on Steam. Its like why Blizzard no need to sell on Steam etc.
