Heads up for anyone who wants to buy Dead Space 2

It has dropped to 40 USD in US. As per EA logic, its still 60 bucks for the rest of the world sad.gif

Make sure you buy from US if anyone plans on buying wink.gif
*
It was never 60USD in SEA regions for EA games. Check the retail prices. Not the DD prices.

I am severely disappointed in myself for not doing the research necessary for my purchases.

I bought

CnC3: Tiberium Wars
CnC3: Kane's Wrath
RA3
RA3: Uprising.

Without the knowledge that apparently, Kane's Wrath and Uprising can be started as standalones.

I just wasted 12.50$ on two outdated games. ;_;

Someone actually bought me Dogfighter for 1 dollar about a few months back. I've never played anything further than the tutorial missions.

Time. Wait till daylight hours.

I know that Public Bank, CIMB bank doesn't let transactions go through when it is a few hours after midnight. Either due to security or because of the daily processing, I'm not sure.

Not really. If it's a crap game then not only are you spending money on buying it. You'll be spending money and time in tests of frustration and patience.

Not that you guys still buy games to play them anyways, for you it's more like a collecting hobby already. In which case you're really just spending money for nothing.

Added on March 23, 2011, 11:41 amHell, if Axel and Pixel was twenty cents. I wouldn't buy it. Even if Gothic 4 was 10 cents, I wouldn't buy it. etc.

I finished Gothic 4.

Gothic series isn't crap, it's just buggy.

Don't just throw accusation just because we are able to buy cheap games.

Stop mooching off your friend's Xbox 360, that is also a form of piracy.
*
How is that an accusation? You've said it yourself that your games list is more akin to a collection now. ._.

Kian, cheesenium says we shouldn't just accept crap that companies give us man. We have to condemn games and systems in order to appear superior! GOTHIC 4 IS CRAP BECAUSE THEY DID NO EFFORT TO FIX THE GAMEBREAKING BUGS! THEREFORE IT SHOULD BE AVOIDED LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Or maybe I should go with his other sentiment, I hated it so it sucks donkey balls.

I'm mooching off my friend's X360, PS3 and Wii actually. I don't think that's covered under the DMCA as piracy though.

Fact is, why spend money on games you're not likely to play? Hell, none of you bought axel and pixel when it came out at 50% price. Only TotalBiscuit did and he made a stellar video of it. So at least he did something out of it.

QUOTE(Kidicarus @ Mar 23 2011, 01:17 PM)
If a game is buggy, i think that's a pretty good reason to say it's crap or otherwise not worth getting.  The gothic games have previously been on sale and I've deliberated on getting them but I was put off by the reviews saying that it's buggy.

I think it's a fair comment that a lot of people buy games for "a rainy day" just because it's cheap.  I know I have done it (many times) before with the result that I still have a lot of untouched games in my Steam account that I just don't have the time to play (and that i probably never will).

FYI you can get get really cheap deals on consoles btw.  Just picked up some older titles brand new for <RM50 from GH a few weeks ago not to mention weekly sales on my 360.
LOL seriously, WTF is this?
*
With the new Play-asia member's club prices, the deals I'm getting is pretty insane. 60 ringgit to 75 ringgit games that are less than a year old. Pretty awesome.

Neverminds kidicarus. People spend their money as they please. If they want to throw money to a company because they have the money to spare, why stop them?

TiF,

I never had any negative connotations on the statement that he's collecting games in the first place, he took it the wrong way. Hell, I buy games just cause they're cheap too. But I'm just a lot more selective due to budget constraints. There's nothing wrong with collecting games on Steam as they're all cheap.

Gamers in general never offer genuine positive criticisms other than the fact that it's different. OMG GAMES LAST TIME WERE BETTAH! Y U DO DIS? Comments are everywhere, in fact, I found reviews like the DA2 review from frags to be in the minority. Reviews that compare the games towards the enjoyment value and what the objectives are is definitely the exception to the norm.

The prices are consistent. Console games have ALWAYS been 10 dollars more expensive than PC games no matter the region. It's 65 Dollars for a US region game for the PS3. 50 dollars for a PC game of the same name. The fact that they've dropped them to amazingly affordable levels, to the point where it can compete with digital distribution that doesn't have physical media logistics to talk about. Is pretty amazing.

As for your last statement. It's just a reminder that people don't always have to have all the games that are cheap. It's not a crime to ignore a good deal simply because you have no use for the product.

Kian: I was just joking on the Cheese says part. Everyone knows I hate Cheesenium's opinions as much as any other posters.

Kidicarus didn't say that it was awesome either, just that because it's buggy, it will definitely have a negative impact on the game.

You were expecting console game prices on sale to rival that of digital distribution? Retail with physical media. PHYSICAL MEDIA.

The full games were paid for. Just not by me. tongue.gif That's like saying people who borrows my bicycle is pirating it or something. Doesn't make sense at all.

The definition of Piracy is that a NEW COPY is made physically/digitally available. Nothing about being able to play on the same copy.

I don't hate Cheese.

Console is moving to digital distribution, currently small but moving into.

Problem with console there is only one digital distributor (ie. Microsoft / Sony). Thus, each having their own monopoly.

It is not just or fair for your friend to pay for your entertainment and it is also not fair or just for the developers to get one payment for two person enjoying it.
*
No, the problem with digital distribution as a whole is the fact that there will simply be people that will like physical media better, as well as the fact that physical media resellers still have to make a living. Gamestop, Gamefly and many other shops will be put out of business if the online retail is any lower than the physical copies. Companies cannot risk losing the exposure that is still generated via physical media.

Apparently it's fair to retail distribution resellers when you buy games at half the price online, or buy 2nd hand games where they get zero profit too. Oh, I know. Selective fairness. How 'bout that.

Holy shit, it means that it's not fair for people to be playing Lan games or playing Street Fighter/MVC3/RE5/Halo on the same console. f***. This is bad. Companies are going out of business!

Let's remove all offline co-op capabilities for all future games. That's the way to go. <3

Oh no. I wasn't accusing anyone of anything when I said they were collecting games and not playing them, it's a matter of fact. There were also no negative connontations on my statement either.

The shit hit the fan when I get accused of pirating when I go to a friend's house to play games.

Apparently it's also wrong in the same vein when I go to my brother's house to play PS3 games that I bought for him! Both he and I are in the wrong, cause you know what? I didn't need to pay for the PS3 too! OMG SONY MUST BE LOSING A LOT OF MONEY!

Stop misusing the word "flame".

Flame in the online slang context is an attack on a person, an ad hominem, or a rage induced post filled with fury of the vindictive nature.

H@h@: This forum is magical. Barely anyone can see things in the big picture.

Who said anything about Steam. brows.gif We have other sources.

As much as people would love to defend their local stores. The advancement of digital distribution will eventually overshadow the stores business. Steam will not be the ones killing them off, but others are (google it). What Steam did is presenting another form of distribution, which is now being adapted by even EA and Sony. Coupled with weekly promotions and sales, they have indirectly told the users to wait and see on their stores every week.

Would you buy Arkham Asylum for RM119 while Steam have it for RM30 after a year?

The only reason i see people ever going to support stores is that freebies are given to compensate. Something that works very well with swag whores.

But don't worry, we have one of the worst internet providers here, and stubborn acceptance to new things. It will take a few years to adapt even if US is doing it today.

I don't see other medias having DD overshadowing the physical media business. I must be living on a different planet than yours.

Amazon US provides 50% discounts on future games when you preorder. And they're a physical media reseller.

You think this cashback thing only happens with DD?

I have less than 20k Gamerpoints. Thanks for trying. I also don't have XBLGold, so it's impossible for me to go MP. I don't get your point in listing those reasons though. Doesn't help your argument nor helps your issue. I'm not pirating.

Then would it be okay for me to use my friend's XBL account instead?

An account was needed when in Gears of War 1, the first game I've played on the X360. An additional XBL offline profile had to be created for Local Co-op, if you have a way of getting past that. Do let me know.

The same goes for GFWL games with LAN, like RE5. A profile must be created.

The argument was there are no discounts on day one release for Digital distribution.

I don't get how playing a full single player game without paying is not piracy.
*
Exactly, even GamersGate and D2D doesn't give you cashback for day one purchases. So your argument is contradicting the facts of the case.

I don't get how listening to songs on the radio without paying is not piracy according to your logic, or using an atm machine without buying the service from the bank, or using the public transport without owning a bus.

f***ing pirates, how do they work?

What if a friend borrows a deck of cards to play Solitaire at his own accord. f***er should give me money for lending the cards to him.

See, this is what a discussion is supposed to be about. We learn, we adapt, we grow.

I'm glad we have a conclusion.
