Yeah, By Chart HD6870m performance may be better then GTX 460M without physx.
M17X R3 has slimmed down in thickness, thus every thing is squeezed and there's no space for dual GPU setup, maybe only 2 HDDs?

from my experience, you might want to avoid dual GPU configuration. yes it is powerful, but that powerfullness may cause throttling if the provided PSU is insufficient. i am personally having it right now, unable to overclock my GPU to its maximum potential. just running at the factory clock only. some of the other user saidif you are using single GPU and you overclock it to its maximum clock, you may run as powerful as SLi.
