ok guys need suggestions here. im using the m15x/i7 740qm/460m. I noticed that the sound system has not much ooomph, eventhough when i plug in my creative ep-630, still sometimes the volume not high and satisfying enough

Will a USB Creative X-Fi external soundcard have a great effect?

Also pls suggest a good pair of headphones if using a USB X-Fi, maybe Roccat Kave?

all sound chipset barely can satisfy demanding ears. using external soundcard surely will boost the audio quality compared to sound chipset.

for surround effect, X-Fi 5.1 Surround USB is the best. i don't familiar with 2.0 / 2.1 audio setting, but i think there should be no problem with that as well.

for Roccat Kave, i am personally using it for almost a year and never disappoint me once i match it with X-Fi 5.1 Surround USB.

hmm Razer have a superb mouse, but not headphone.. kinda expensive too

just an additional info : 5.1 configuration is best for gaming and movie only. for songs, just stick to 2.0/2.1
