LOL! Urm, it's casing is durable.. But I still doubt the strength of a magnesium casing, so brittle. sad.gif
*
But it's Magnesium Alloy~ An alloy compound should be stronger than alluminium wad~ unsure.gif

Yeah most m15x users that are usimg gtx 260m n hd 5850 are experiencing very severe overheating issues.
And about the cooling system, don't get me wrong, it's good, but can be so much better as compared to asus. Also, dell has to seriously issue some new thermal paste to their engineer for servicing, the current one they use is a hardened piece of crap. rclxub.gif
*
Gotta agree with this... before I replace em with my AC MX-4 paste the GPU would suffer from overheating and severe throttling due to it reaching a pretty hot temp @ 80'C - 9x'C ish during full load on it... After applying it I can run my lappie smoothly @ 65'C - 7x'C on full load while gaming~ tongue.gif

In my room obviously it's impossible la~ tongue.gif But if you bring it to a hotel room in Genting or a hill resort you can try and see... brows.gif I got around 40-ish last time I brought my lappie to Genting~ nod.gif

Don't believe me try and bring your laptop to Genting and play some graphic demanding games when it's pretty cold and see what temp readings you get~ Trust me on that~ brows.gif

Throttling? Are you sure its caused by the temperature. Or is it your bios? Any bios before A08 will cause throttling issue to both gpu and cpu. My m15x came with A06 and I flashed bios to A09.

A04~ whistling.gif

Well said, putochip123! If I am not mistaken, the Sandy Bridge processors are of mainstream type. Even if Intel releases the enthusiast version of Sandy Bridge processors, it will not significantly improve the gaming performance, since most games are GPU-dependent.

kira-kun
Sorry for my harsh comment about Dell being not honest about M17x-R3. I am just pointing out that we customers must be wise enough to discern facts and myths. Besides that, we should not entirely trust Dell's marketing words.

Sigh, your M17x-R3 is making my M15x look outdated.  sad.gif I hope that you will get your gaming beast real soon, so that you can have fun with it.  rclxms.gif
*
Hmm... how about flight simulation games? tongue.gif They are CPU dependent as they don't show any improvement in FPS even when you slap in a pretty decent GPU~ hmm.gif

I hope you're familiar to "msconfig".
You can disable startup programs in case you didn't know already.

But if you have tried that, then ignore this message..  laugh.gif

Any affect on gaming performance?  hmm.gif

Nope.... anything beyond 512MB on a GPU is good edi... what matters now is just the clock speed on it~ nod.gif

Considered a Sager?  hmm.gif
As mentioned, M14x or the upcoming Dell XPS14 replacement (GPU probably nothing special as well)  nod.gif

Size doesn't matter... Screen's clarity matters more~ Perfect example is HP's Radiance display~

the gpu provided is radeon.. is nvidia > radeon? a lot ppl say radeon sux ==

Depends...

ATI/AMD - Performance looks good on paper... but bogged down by poor driver software... (If you use default driver la)

NVIDIA - Performs decently good on paper... Performs nicely too~

What do you mean by no demand for M18x? Don't we have enough rich kids in Malaysia who can use their daddy's money to buy M18x? By the way, I am just an average person and not rich.
Still, can we make special purchase for M18x from Dell Malaysia if we really want to? Buying M18x from other countries will make claiming warranty a more difficult task than it should be.

Now I normally fly Emirates or Singapore Airline ... so far they never checked the weight of my hand-carry, coz every time sure exceed one.

But once I was traveling to Hong Kong on a business trip, using MAS, they ask me to weight my hand-carry luggage ... and it was like 12kg ... they force me to juggle the stuff from my hand-carry and the check-in luggage ... what a mess at the airport there .... I ban MAS from that day onwards.
*
No surprise there... Airports in the Chinese SAR has a pretty strict luggage regulation... They also check my carry-on luggage kao kao when I was in VHHH last year~ smile.gif

There is nothing wrong with me being jealous of them. If I had excess cash to spare, I would have been the first in the line to purchase M18x with maximum specification. Sigh, it is just a wishful thinking.  cry.gif

Yeah, I am still *trying very hard* to NOT to exceed the hand-carry max weight limit ...  whistling.gif .... but some how fails every time, with my full gear camera bag itself is already >10kg, now if with 2 more notebooks ....  rclxub.gif
*
You can leave the cables etc at the bag you're gonna dump at check in... nod.gif just bring what you think is important and that you're gonna use in-flight lo~

I could have gone for M18X but then I didn't want...
Afraid that my cousin will tell my mom about my laptop haha!!
Mom is pissed at me not spending time outside the house those days. Imagine what will she think if I had purchase this and my cousin said it is for gaming haha! Additional 1k ringgit cause satisfy impressing a girl temporary my mom says. But that additional 1k could satisfy me till the next alienware revision I believe haha!!!!

Oh well how I wish my parents can splurge on my gaming need!

Just do it... They can't control your life... It's your in the end... nod.gif So, JUST DO IT~!!! drool.gif
