QUOTE(eikozai @ Aug 22 2012, 10:40 PM)
I'm actually in dilemma of choosing between Shure Se535 and Westone 4. I'm fulfilling my dream to be an audiophile, and would like you people(audiophile) to guide me and suggest me good in-ear earphones beside this two so I could have wider range of choice.

Using iPod touch 4G currently and been using the stock earphone for 1 year plus. Thinking to upgrade.

Jaben available for audition or not for this 2?
*
agree with the guys... go and audition it first... you might read that the 2 sounds almost similar based on reviews... but with my ears, i felt the 535 is a bit more neutral warmish sort of feeling while the westone 4 is more analytical sounding... but then, it depends on your source as well as you will need to pair them up... the UM series might sound a bit more closer to the 535 in my opinion...

it depends on which you prefer at the end of the day...

spec wise, the 535 is a triple driver while the W4 is a quad driver...both 3-way crossovers i believe...

price wise, i believe the 535 is a couple hundred cheaper than the westone 4 with removable cable...it's quite a big upgrade for apple stock earphone brows.gif get the removable cable version for westone in case you itchy to get some upgrade cables later on... westone 4 also comes with a 1010 sized pelican case too brows.gif

QUOTE(KenDiriwan @ Aug 22 2012, 11:09 PM)
Not sure how did you came to be in dilemma without listening to them first?
the usual, the dilemma most probably came from reading online reviews...haha

Look for Choon Beng/Jeff/Yuheng. But the first two name mentioned will make bubbles come out from your mouth.

Oh din know you looking for this specific model. Do you really want this?
Thanks for taking the time to reply. To be honest I just want to check the price first. My guess is it will be less than RM100. Btw now that Beyer has came out with XP series how do they compare to Vsonic GR02 and GR99?

Legato-C were made using 6N Copper cable, solid core, and terminated carefully with audiophile grade soldering lead.
both Legato were using Switchcraft gold plated plug from U.S.A
Both cables were available exclusively at Jaben Malaysia.

Enjoy~

May be you can go audition first.
Problem with S2 it has a inferior DAC.
Sounds are not great, and get especially bad when volume increases, it distorts really really bad.

Would you like it to be able to play FLAC? If so, a good and cheap one would be a Sansa Clip+, Clip Zip, or Fuze+. From my experience, the Fuze+ is a little finicky and takes time to get used to, but has the biggest screen of the 3. Neutral (flat) and warm sound with quite a lot of power to drive IEMs to deafening volumes without breaking a sweat. The only buying option it seems is to buy them online if no store you see sell them here. AFAIK maybe a small number stores are bringing them for a limited time as Sansa doesn't sell their music players here in physical stores. Although some people in this forum here are selling them. Look for the trusted ones.

I've tried a Sony E465. It's a 16GB player, with no expandable memory slot. With every enhancement it has turned off and EQ flat, I say it is quite a good sounding player, with nicely done bass and neutral sound which is a tad bit analytical. It does get loud enough without crackling so it has the power to drive IEMs quite nicely. Tried it with an Atrio M5 which is pretty warm so it matches it quite well. No FLAC support though.

Others for RM500 that are good....ummmmm...you missed the sale I had a few years ago of my Hifiman HM-601. laugh.gif Just kidding. tongue.gif I have no idea, those are the only ones I can remember tried or used.
