Hi guys,
My testimonial to share:
Got my FiiO E3 tonight, from Jaben at Subang. It was a busy place, lots of Headphile fans came to test out some cool amps there.
I wanted to go there during weekdays because I spend my weekends at home (tired of the traffic jams in Hot places like Subang). So I took my opportunity to pay a visit since the very moment I got to know about FiiO E3. I always wanted something like that.
When I was there, I am pretty satisfied with the service they provided (I brought my MP3 player but forgotten to change a fresh new one, instead I ask the staff to borrow me one to test). So eventually, I was introduced to some amps, portable range from FiiO, Hippo Pipe, GoVibe & Ordnance.
Mainly, I want to get E3, since I knew about this place and eager to get one. Somehow I spent my time carefully evaluate the portable amps. Honestly, I brought a very cheap MP3 player, and low range Audio Technica ATH-22. I might be doubt by the staffs why I bring such low range items to test. I want to see how good the amps that even Cap Ayam stuffs can sound good.
So here's my own opinion after all the test.
FiiO E3 & E6 - for E3, cheap and a small wonder, I tried it first and already gave me the surprising feel. It is very clear and loud, provided most of the frequencies are heard. For E6, I tried the functions that change the LED colors from Purple, Red and Blue. (that's all I remember.) The functions work well to me, but E6 is not for me, it seems to me as for enjoying the music, more bassy kinda feel. When I got home, I tried E3 on my laptop with the amp, and tried on my music project. I heard the quality, and I'm satisfied. Super, satisfied. I yelled, "This is what I am looking for!"
Hippo Pipe - the staff showed me this item and insisted me to try. After tested E3, and change to Hippo Pipe, the music I listen to became lower amplification than E3. I was like, what?? So I told the staff as Hippo Pipe wasn't my choice, and he said it's pretty much better than E3. Hmm, I think I don't hear anything that I want from it instead E3. So as he explained that Hippo Pipe is for music in vocals, but I deal more in soundtracks and electronic music.
GoVibe Martini & Ordnance .22 - Both at similar price around RM400+. GoVibe runs with 4pcs of AAA sized batteries while Ordnance .22 is rechargeable. Honestly, I do dig gadgets that runs in batteries because it can be used for a long time, although you need to spend a lot on batteries, but for the rechargeable, you may use the amp with more power and no hassle when it ran out of power, you can always charge it. But, I don't think it can be used for a long time, except if the internal batteries can be replace. One of the staff told me that I can always replace it by soldering a new one since it runs in Lithium Ion. I really can't believe why he say that, which he knew that I know about soldering, and I really do...
And so, for the both that I've tested, Martini has decent quality on the amplification, while .22 have the advantage of gain switch, boosting the volume, which pretty sounds good to me. I can hear more bassy than Martini. However, it was a Korean amp. But for the choice between both, I prefer Martini, as I like it to be used for a long time, providing good care of it.
Well, I am satisfied with the service and the explanation from the staffs, as well as the shop environment. I do have some thoughts to pay another visit some other time since I am very busy at work, and my music composition. Also, I do need to find a suitable brand and quality headphones for myself, research is essential.
I hope that my testimonials are not to be put in debate, just sharing my thoughts and experience.
Cheers yall!
A very neutral approach to both the amps and the store environment. We shall let our staff know more and have some improvement in them.
