What a great club..!
Hi everyone, i a newbie of i5 2500K

Just got my rigs few days ago, finally settle down all the cable management and software.. and it's time to OC kaw kaw !! brows.gif
Currently i'm using Asus P8P67 + 15 2500K, after reading the user manual, i decide to switch om the TPU button on the motherboard, and after log in to windows... drool.gif wuuulaaa...4.3Ghz without going to bios and set anything
Second stage, i try the TurboV auto tuning (from Asus), set extreme and go
after log in the windows, still 4.3Ghz, but wait a minute.....it increasing 1 multiplier each time, once it hit 4.8Ghz i decide to stop there, cos i can read the temperature goes up to 72C..

Now i wanna play around with manual (BIOS) OC, try few times, but unfortunately i got blue screen, dun understand y..
I set multiplier to 43 with BLCK 100.3, 1.2 Voltage and leave everything auto
still blue screen, any SIFU know why ah? sweat.gif

QUOTE(owikh84 @ Oct 27 2011, 08:24 AM)
what's the BSOD code? (check 1st post)
sounds like insufficient vCore to me, the 1.2v u set is actually will go lower on load than set due to Load-line Calibration, LLC. (except for Extreme profile which load higher than set)
try bump up vCore a lil bit @ 1.25-1.35v for 4.3GHz etc
as for 4.8GHz u need to enable Internal CPU PLL overvoltage and higher vCore.
*
I never check the BSOD code, is'it someway around the blue screen?
I saw my temperature raise up to 72C, is'it ok for 24/7?
There is a lot of setting, such as Load line calibration, VRM frequency, VRM spread Spectrum, Phase Control, Duty Control... is'it fine to leave everything in AUTO?

Will try again tonight, thanks for your help

72c under load is definitely ok.. for the settings, its ok to leave on auto.. when its unstable then manually set
*
Thanks mate, full stress 4.8Ghz @72C/lower will be my next target
However i'm happy with 4.3Ghz 1.17v for 24/7, but i find out that when i running Cinebench, 3 core working very fast, but 1 core like freezing/extremely slow
Anyone have this issue?

running linx 0.64?

Is'it a benchmarking software? will download and check
BTW i've check my BSOD, 00124 something, then i increase my voltage. It really works..credit to owikh84

Run Cinebench 11.5, with all CPU i got 7.06. Quite happy with the result

currently im trying for manual OC for y P8P67 i5 2500K, follow all the guide from the threat, what i got is stable 4.3+ ghz, BUT no under clocking.. my CPU just remain 4.3 Ghz even in ideal.. anyone know why?
I turn on IEST and EPU, but it still only working working in 4.3ghz
my setting is:
AI OC Tuner: Manual
BLCK : 100
Turbo Ratio : 43
Internal PLL : Auto
Load-Line Calibration : Ultra High
VRM Frequency : 350
Phase Ctrl : Extreme
CPU Votage : 1.22

When i log into windows, it just working at 4.3ghz even ideal
any idea why it won't down clock to 1.6ghz when ideal?

thanks

sorry typo, should be "in windows, change power plan to power saver"
*
Haha, i'm wondering about the setting just now.. then i try all the setting, finally happy with Balance & Power Saver
Now my CPU ideal temp is 19C only

BTW, will this setting affect my processor speed?

Thanks to OWIKH84 & others forumers, I manage to get 4.3Ghz @1.23v , 43C Full load
And idle 1.6Ghz @19C

Here's my setting
Ai OC Tuner : Manual
BLCK Frequency : 100.0
Turbo Ratio : By All Cores in OS
Ratio : 43
Internal PLL : Auto
Load-Line Calibration : Ultra High
VRM Frequency : 350
Phase Control : Extreme
CPU Voltage : Manual (1.23v)

Since the temperature working under 45C, i'm about to OC further until it hit 60C @ Full load

Off course, CPU speed, vcore as well as temp will be reduced during idle.
*
hmm.gif
lets say I disable all those power saving stuff and keep the cpu at 4.3Ghz, will it faster then i enable power saving (1.6 idle, 4.3Ghz Load)?

CPU these days are so fast that if you notice, the utilization under normal usage is so minimal and doesn't even touch 50% most of the time unless you game smile.gif Having it at 4.3 Ghz vs 1.6 Ghz doesn't make a difference to you in Windows desktop.
*
ic, so will stick with this setting.
I got 0.9V @ 1.6Ghz & 1.28V @ 4.3Ghz, (offset -0.05)

hey guys, i want to ask if i change my cpu heatsink, did i need to format my window again?

and please teach me how to overclock, here's my spec:

Intel Core i7 2600k
Gigabyte P67A-UD3P-B3
Corsair ddr3 1333 2gb x2
Corsair ssd 60gb
WD 500gb Green
Cooler Master Silent Pro M 700W
Winfast gtx570
CM 690 Casing
Asus Xonar D2X Sound Card
Edifier S530D
*
No you don't have to, heatsink just part of hardware & Windows is software. nothing to do with it
I'm not familiar with Gigabyte Bios, but as far as the K series is concerned, you just have to play with CPU Multiplier (Ratio)
Exp: the FSB should be 100mhz, your multiplier is 34... so end up you'll get 3400Mhz
Increase the multiplier to 40 you'll get 4Ghz.

Increasing CPU voltage normally is needed for OC above 4ghz
Just play with it, you'll find out what is suitable for your rigs

hi everyone, one question, im using p8z68 v pro mobo, i just overclocked using auto tuning, click on the fast mode, no prob at all stable running on 4.4ghz, but in extreme mode, my pc restart itself like normal progress of auto tuning, when it start back, gave me the same result like FAST MODE WHICH IS 4.4GHZ, and ask me whether to stop or continue, and if continue the pc keep restarting itself, HERE COMES THE PROBLEM BEFORE ENTERING WINDOWS, IT SHOWS WINDOWS ERROR SHUTDOWN NOT PROPERLY, AND THATS IT, pc still running on 4.4ghz. Can someone that using auto tuning for overclocking tell me whats wrong? THANKS A LOT!

my spec 2600k, p8z68 v pro, 8gb ddr3 1866mhz, 120gb sata 3 ssd, 580lightning

Any BSOD? what's the temperature in full load? Which heatsink you using?

playing BF3 max temp for cpu 54c, mobo 36c, pretty normal right? heatsink just tuniq tower 120 extreme only
*

apparently heat is not the issue, then you have to play with vcore

yea, i'm also a rookie.. but this threat help alot.. dun hesitate to ask question here
beside vcore, phase control, VRM frequency, load-calibration and etc also will affect your OCbility
dun be afraid to increase vcore, just OC kao kao
Normally when you set Auto Tune, the vcore is a bit higher then needed
take it as a reference, and lower it down bit
Check your BSOD, you'll know when to increase vcore

yes boss, but look at OC3D review on asus x79 mobo with i73960x processor, some serious performance there, dont wanna change to x79? wait 1 more month then the price little bit murah i think  sweat.gif
*
next year 1st quarter ivy bridge should appear, then that will be a significant improvement.
Not so optimistic about this Sandy-bridge-E
Perhaps x79 will be the DOA socket

Serious performance in what? smile.gif Synthetic benchmarks? You need to understand clearly what "performance" means to you especially if you even need such an expensive setup to play your games biggrin.gif
*
not so impressive in terms of Games benchmark, an slightly OC i7 2600K can beat it
No point to make huge damage for your wallet if you don't need such performance

im running on 4.5 only ... vcore set to 1.295 sad.gif prime95 fail after 10 hour on 1.285 and 1.290.
my idle about 40~42, full load can up to 70~73

torino is the one running on 4.7  notworthy.gif
*
73c huh, i think sandy bridge can handle 80+c, but for long term 24/7 pc, i only set it at 4.3Ghz (kia si) blush.gif
vcore 1.22 something, ideal 22-24c full load never exceed 50c

nah...for the time being im using auto setting..just want to test it first...
vcore pretty well i thing...1.39+-...temp somewhere around 80 degree...but it increase gradually since im using elite 311 plus, pretty bad for high OC.. blush.gif

i have no time for manual setting, waiting for my 4 months study break to test that.. brows.gif
*
so you mean auto oc bring you up to 4.7ghz?
