The Guillotines
Another mediocre Andrew Lau movie and I'm surprised Peter Chan is behind it.The setting and idea actually pretty good but hampered with dumb down plot-line and over reacting performance.The editing is choppy and action sequence laced with unnecessary pyrotechnic effects.
Not much to look at. 4/10

The Last Tycoon
Didn't know Wong Jing still able to make serviceable movie. Production quality is lush and plot-line is something you've seen one too many time. Basically you kinda know how the movie will go after the first 1/2 hour. The saving grace is to see CYF still able to deliver the goods.Scenes with Sammo and Francis Ng is pretty well shot as well. Imagine this as a very well made Wong Jing movie but not quite a very good movie by itself.6/10

Django Unchained
QT seems to be in a more restrained mode. Good to see he didn't go to long dialogues like his previous 2 movie which can be too self indulgent and impatient to watch. Here the plot moves point to point at faster pace.To date I think this is QT most accessible movie he made. Jamie Foxx did well in it but can't help overshadow by even greater performance from Christopher Waltz and SLJ. DiCaprio bad guy also quite intriguing.8/10
