A "miracle" had happened!!

I Just watched

The White Storm 掃毒 (2013)

and... LIKED IT!!

Casting is good. You actually care for the characters!!

The storyline is actually pretty strong.

Okay, some of the car chasing sequence is downright impossible (do they show Mythbusters in Hong Kong tongue.gif)

This is probably on the of the better movie to come out for Hong Kong for the pass... 5 years!!

This is a Cop & Robber movie.

One thing bugs me though...

The Counselor (2013)

Stars Michael Fassbender, Cameron Diaz, Penelope Cruz, Brad Pitt & Javier Bardem

Directed by : Ridley Scott

Just looking at the above 2 lines of names you would think that not much could go wrong with the movie, right? Those are some of the biggest names in show business for goodness sake! If you thought that then you'd be dead wrong!

My advice for this movie : DO NOT WATCH THIS!!

Yes. You read it right. Don't waste your time. This movie is bad. The story is beyond saving and you'll get confused at what's actually happening. Once you get what's actually happening you'll find out that nothing much is happening, really! Just lots of talking and talking and more talking.

The main character is played by Michael Fassbender and his referred to as 'counselor' all through the movie. There's no name for him. Should have been a warning sign but I missed that. *Sigh*
Rating : 1 out of 5 stars.

confused is about right

the only highlight will be on Brad Pitt towards the end

300: Rise of an Empire (2014)

I confess.

I have never went on the record to say that I like 300 (2006)...

The issue is the brutality. They made brutality into "art". They beautified the killing scenes and I do not agree with that.

So when they announced they were making "Part Deux"... I was not expecting much...

Just finished watching it and all I can say is, do people even remember The 300 Spartans (1962)?

That movie is 52yo and from a story point of view, still run rings around this movie!!?!

Style over substance ladies and gentlemen. Style over substance!!!

From casting (not sure if Sullivan Stapleton is the best choice for Themistocles), why is Eva Green's character Artemisia even here? And the fact that Queen Gorgo (Lena Headey) led the Spartan retaliation... My goodness, do they even know the source material (eg history)????!? (In Sparta, women are basically a baby factory, full stop...)

History about this matter is pretty straight forward, Athens (which had the best Navy force in Greece) and the rest of Greece met Persia at the sea, forcing the Persian army to try to enter Greece through Thermopylae (Hot Gates) where the Spartan met them.

So having said that, 300 (2006) historically is actually more accurate, whereas this movie...

This is based on the comic Xerxes and surprise surprise, you DON'T see alot of HIM!!!?!

Okay, credit where credit is due, the way the Greeks did sea battle, is actually by the book (eg according to history books), and have to add, apart from that...

I am sorry, I think this is a very poor attempt at a movie and have to add, I actually approached the movie with very low expectation, even then I truly and thoroughly disappointed!!

Did you watched the uncensored or the censored version?
I have a very disturbing questions about Eva Green's body and specifically her nips if you've watched The Dreamers vs how it's like in 300 ... Entirely 2 diff pair of tits doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

The Boy Next Door (2015)

It actually started out decent. Premise was good, and the first act worked.

In the spirit of Fatal Attraction (1987)/The Hands That Rock The Cradle (1992) (eg. thriller)

And then something strange happened...

Noah Sandborn (Ryan Guzman) had to portray a "villain"...

I don't think his acting skills is there yet....

The script after the first act, was not very sure how to deliver!?!...

And that is not the good sign.

So much so that when the end credits roll, you go, meh....

Also interesting that Kristin Chenoweth took such a small role.
