Oblivion (2013)

Hahahaha!

It takes alot to entertain current movie viewers.

Science fiction movies have been around since the 50s.

Many a science fiction writers have given us so many angles to science fiction storyline, I truly believe, that is really isn't an original idea, for a very VERY long time.

The writers of this story had thrown in EVERY theme of science fiction there is, THAT in itself, truly remarkable!!

Alien Invasion, End of the World, Last Man and Woman on the planet, Utter destruction (on a planetary scale), cloning, ultra modern living to living in the gutters...

I notice that many a people had compared this movie to a particular movie (from few years back). Personally, I see influences from, Independence Day, 2001 The Space Odyssey, anything by P.K. Dick, episodes from The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits!!

The homage paid in this movie is mind boggling!!

This is an AMBITIOUS movie!! Too some extent, I feel, overly ambitious.

Credit where credit is due, the designers in this movie, deserves special mention!! Very VERY manga, and their actually look like they work!! (Flight ship and collapsible motor bike)

Here is the kicker...

This is really REALLY hard for me to say.

I would really REALLY like to say that I absolutely positively LOVE this movie...

I can see that the story writers and director put their heart and soul into this project...

Tom Cruise is really invested into the movie as well...

Pacing... the pacing...

... I can only say that is movie is slight above okay...

My Two Sen...

Different people has different scoring systems. I dont really rely on imdb scoring,I prefer user review instead of imdb scoring.
like wolverine(2013) , imdb scoring: 7.1 but then everyone said this movie is average only lol

my two cents ya

Everyone has different taste in movies. I don't blame nor dislike your review if you give Oblivion 3/10. There is no single movie out there who can satisfy each and everyone's expectations. Some people prefer simple movies. Some like it that way. Hard to please everyone. laugh.gif

Interesting that you brought that up.

I think it is a conscious decision on the writer's/director's part where the relationship between Tom Cruise and Andrea Riseborough characters (Jack & Victoria), everything is... arranged. Victoria loves Jack alot more then Jack loved Victoria. So there is always a "nervousness" on her part. The hesitations and false starts.... I really praise Andrea Riseborough. She was really able to convey this through her craft. The relationship between Tom Cruise and Olga Kurylenko (jack and Julia) is suppose to be more organic, spontaneous and.... lacking a better term, free. And that is where trouble brews... There is very little chemistry between Tom Cruise and Olga Kurylenko...

Haha, at the end of of the movie I'm more interested to know about the outcomes of the Tech clones and Victoria's clones rather than Tech 52 reunited with the family. thumbup.gif
