Wow, I am on a "R" binge!!

Again, a blast from the past and one I also like very much

Julia Roberts was at her peak. Mel Gibson before he is hated!! And Patrick Stewart... before he was Professor X!!

I have missed Richard Donner. John Schwartzman cinematography was great, Kevin Stitt & Frank J. Urioste edit were spot on and Carter Burwell score was lots of fun!!

Imagine Looney Tunes meets Alfred Hitchcock! That pretty much sums up this movie for me!!

If you have not watched this before, do yourself a favour and watch it!!

You know why I'm singing this when you watch the movie. Enjoy

Kiss the Girls (1997)

I miss movies like this.

Decent storyline (Mystery/Thriller).

Good cast (Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd & Cary Elwes).

And the film is well executed!!

If you are into sick serial killer, this movie is for you!

I would have to say Ashley Judd probably looked her best here!!

If that is not motivation enough to watch this movie, I don't know what will!!

Sin City 2 : A dame to kill for - A dame too lame.
Frank Miller's Sin City was groundbreaking back in the days for a breath of fresh air. Comic books need not about super beings in cape and cowl. Nowadays we have better writers dabbing in the funny book medium with really high quality tales that out pace the golden era of Frank Miller. Mark Millar does his high concept blockbuster pitch, Ed Brubaker with his "noirish" complex writing, Brian K.Vaughan keen sense of sci-fi genre, Joe Hill the son of Stephen King for his smart horror genre, Andy Diggle does his hollywood-esque action movie tales, etc...   
For what it's worth, I really like the first Sin City movie. It compiles the 3 seminal story arcs from Sin City series. The sequel adapts ADTKF which was the earlier arcs that started the whole Sin City books and 2 new story arcs. Man this movie suck balls to the core with lazy filmmaking that does not innovate upon source material and all those corny action sequences is off putting to say the least. The dialogs became self-parody and there's no compelling reason for the 3 stories to interweave with each other. Saving grace again is on Eva Green but then the script is a total train wreck.

Singapore's GVs are/were showing.  Almost went to watch it during a trip there last few weeks but the show was around 1am+ in the morning.

Even it got screen locally,expect it to be heavily butcher because of nudity and violent kills.

John Wick (2014)

There is something very old school about this movie.

And I don't mean 1980s old school, further back then that. Back to when Warner Brothers were churning out a lot of Gangster movies...

I don't know why, the feeling of this movie is a throw back to that period... Gangster/Film Noir-ishness.

And IT IS GREAT!!!!

AS of yesterday, I have watched 3 moths in the past three weeks and all three movies are GREAT!!!

Okay, back to this movie, how throw back is this movie, if this movie was a silent movie, the context of the movie would still have been CLEAR!!!

Don't get me wrong, when I say old school does it mean this movie is not violent, Far from it!!

There aren't any good guys here!

There are just people with/without code of conduct!!!

Go watch this.

I cannot emphasize this move, GO WATCH THIS!!
