Ive posted this in Argo thread, but anyways:

Just finished watching Argo.

This is arguably the best movie of 2012 (i havent watch Zero Dark Thirty, so yeah)

Great acting, great directing, great storyline, criteria that are usually missing in movies based on true story.

And as far as movies based on true story goes, this is THE BEST.

If you manage to find a copy of Argo, be it DVD or blu ray, please please please buy this movie!

If I have to give numerical rating for this movie, i would not be hesitant to give it at least a 9/10.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Just finished watching the movie.

Great romance/drama movie. One of 2012 hidden gem.

Go watch this movie! It has this nostalgic feeling especially if you're the kids of 80's and early 90's!

The Act of Killing - Documentary
One of the most important documentaries in the last 10 years. A great documentary is not about educating or highlighting an issue or topic, it's about taking an agenda free stance behind the subject it trying to portray, from there on you as a viewer will make your own conclusion. The premise is about death squad members recounting their participation in eliminating communist threat that has similarity to our own history. The genius of this documentary is getting the larger than life death squad members re-enacting the atrocity of genocide in a "musical-like act" that is contradicting the nature of their inhumanity acts. As things getting more and more f$%ed up,a gleam of remorse start to exhibit itself on one of the character.A truly powerful and confounding character study.

i read somewhere that they'll gonna make a sequel of this documentary lol

Just finished watching Her.

I think that movie just trumped Forest Gump as my personal favourite movie of all time.

The movie is sci-fi, but it feels very real.. the emotions...
The feels...

About Time

Dont let the generic poster fool you. This is not your typical Rachel McAdams romantic movie.

Better than Ive initially expected.

One of the better movie out there about love (and im not just talking about love between couples tongue.gif )

As Above So Below

Ah, the typical shaky cam horror flick.

Do yourself a favor and dont go watch this movie. The pacing is horrible, the acting is weird, the plot is bland, the scares r little.

Pure entertainment, roller coaster ride from start to finish.
This is without a doubt the most fun and exciting film of 2014, really deserving the high praises and reviews it got.

Pls go see this movie

if u like the first one, then it should be good enough to warrant your rm15 haha

never seen the first 1, so the movie felt n looked like the singing version of step up

what makes pf2 slightly better than step up is the humor.

Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk

It is a slow burner. So dont expect to watch a war movie because action scenes (that r supposedly in 120fps, but local cinemas dont support the format anyway, so yea laugh.gif ) are few and far between. It picks up the pace in the 2nd half followed by a great 3rd act, but at the end of the day, it isnt as rewarding as it could have been. The movie focuses on PTSD, and ang lee did an okay job with the subject. Most of the emotional weight is carried by the newcomer star who plays the main character. He did a good job.

Overall it was a decent movie. Not ang lee's best, but not his worst either. 7/10 from me.

SILENCE by Martin Scorsese

user posted image

Definitely one of Martin's best work, and definitely his best since The Departed.

Silence might not have the fast blaze editing style that is prominent in most of his gangster films, but the slow, harrowing depiction of the christian missionaries as well as the local japs in the film definitely suck the soul out of you (in a good way lol).

However, due to the slow pacing and the subject/topic of the movie (religious theme), this movie is definitely NOT for everyone.

Also, this film does not use any music score, which is a nice touch.

Dare I say, this is my personal fav film of 2016, beating out my previous fav La La Land.

My tiny gripe is with the inconsistent use of accents by the actors in the film, especially by the lead actor Andrew Garfield. He has an accent at one point, but suddenly sounded like a modern american in the next scene, which is a bummer because apart from that, his overall acting is pretty good, better than in Hacksaw Ridge in which he was nominated for.

Overall, i would give this a 9.5/10 smile.gif

There are rumors floating around this "old auntie" and Arnold may reprise their roles in True Lies 2

If only they will get around to release True Lies on Bluray!!

James Cameron likes to supervise his bluray releases/restoration/remastering personally, so it might take a while before True Lies gonna be releasing on bluray since he is caught up making multiple Avatar sequels at the moment.
