It is one of the best movies of 2017 ... I really like the first Blade Runner movie and the world it envisioned ... among the most influential sci-fi movies ... even played the PC game last time, and had read the short story "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?".

After watching the three shorts on YouTube, BR:Black Out 2022, BR:2036 Nexus Dawn, & BR:2048 Nowhere to Run, I was ready to immerse back in the bleak plausible future world ... and I'm not disappointed at all with Blade Runner 2049.  Actings were top-notch & moving, cinematography was captivating, soundtrack was minimal but effective (still wondering how much of Johan Johansson's score was altered, and how much was Hans Zimmer's), sound effects was superb (wanna watch again with a good home theatre system for the LFE rumblings), visual effect mixed with more grounded practical effects were not too jarring, the noir detective + 3-sided conflicts + AI romance storyline was interesting enough ... most importantly, the message and theme of the movie is meaningful for me.

Nonetheless, I couldn't recommended the movie to most people,  unsure.gif ... mainly due to the deliberately slow pacing, and the actively churning grey cells required while watching the 2hrs40+mins film.  Hopefully though, Blade Runner 2049 will also be a cult-classic and has a huge following in the future, similar to its predecessor.

Haha...malaysia tastebud can not lari from capes and tights. That is high art in the eyes of general audiences.

Do agree 2049 is one of the better movie for this year and destined to suffer the same fate of it's predecessor. A very good film that bomb big time, so does a handful of influential masterpieces.

Couldnt agree more with u buddy. To be honest I gave up on superheroes genre after Nolan's TDK trilogy. The only good 1 that come close to me is Logan.

Was hoping to read up some local reviews on the amazing Blade Runner 2049. To my surprise there's none here. That explains why the movie flop, it just couldn't draw the crowds.

I've seen this epic 3 times (Std screen, ATMOS and IMAX). In my opinion best movie of 2017 (so far) and 1 of the best sequel out there.

I watched Blade Runner 2049 one week or so after the mass-shooting in Las Vegas; in the movie, when K reached Las Vegas, I was like blink.gif sad.gif ...

Roger Deakins' works with Denis Villeneuve, namely Prisoners, and Sicario are exceptional as well ... the road at night scene with a lot of cars when Hugh Jackman's character was driving, memorable.

Anyhoo ... getting out of topic, heheh ... to make up for that, a short movie review of the last film I've watched.

The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) ... currently on Netflix.

Nice performances from Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Dustin Hoffman, Emma Thompson, etc.

A drama with a tinge of comedy about the Meyerowitz family ... a retired art professor/artist with two sons and a daughter (half-siblings), who had 'slight' relationship/communication problem with his sons (coz he's an artist, haha) ... the usual expectations for sons to follow own footsteps, coupled with playing favourites, led to some 'amicable' conflicts between the siblings. Ben Stiller had a great scene. Grace Van Patten as Adam Sandler's character's young adult daughter who obtained patriarchal approval coz she's studying filmmaking (continuing artistic careers in family), oohlala ... wub.gif Elizabeth Marvel, from House of Cards and Homeland, I didn't recognize her. In a nutshell, a retrospective film focusing on characters and dialogues.

6.5 out of 10.

Although movie based on real event and I felt for them at the end, the movie not enjoyable to watch. Joseph should make Tron sequel instead. But firefighters will enjoy this and deeply connected.

Jab Harry met Sejal (Hindi) - 5/10
The most anticipated India movie of the year because of the two main leads but movie was average only music was memorable. Many scenes were shot in various exotic Europe locations. Anyway Shah Rukh Khan's worst performance.

When obsessions are taken too far...

Kinda reminds me of Black Mirror's Nosedive episode.

The Midnight Man (2016)

This movie is.... rough.

Decent trailer, and movie... did not deliver.

The main issues ARE

1) Bad pacing
2) Bad Casting (on THAT note, why the heck is Lin Shayee and Robert Englund even in this?.... To pay rent, I suppose)
3) I actually like the house, and would not mind living in it, but the camera work is just so.... uninteresting.
4) Story... suck major... Usually, horror movie's storyline, don't make sense... This one, took THAT to the extreme...

I really don't know what else to say exvept for, you have been warned kiddies.... YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Man, why did you watch this movie?

If you google, you can't even find many information about this movie.

Even searching for trailer in the youtube and through google are quite hard.

The google result always show another The Midnight Man movie.

And it's a 2016 movie.

I want to watch this movie actually, but after doing quick googling, I decide not to watch it.

I feel pity to people that pay to watch this movie.

A Taxi Driver - A touching zero to hero tale.

You see Song Kang Ho, you don't think and just watch it. Either you will be heartbroken at the end or just felt very inspired by the movie. The story of a broke taxi driver embroiled with a very trying circumstance to do the right thing at all cost. Granted some bits are fluffy and too good to be that coincidental but nevertheless deeply touching. A pretty inspiring movie with enough laughter and heartache.

Justice League (2017)

So....

Is this movie perfect?

No.

Does the producer wish it was perfect, with a budget of $300,000,000, I am sure they wish it was!

Is it enjoyable?

Yes.

Is it better, compared with Suicide Squid and Batman vs Superman?

You bet your bottom dollar!

Why is it better?

I have a sneaky suspicion, it's got something to do with Joss Whedon...

Zack Synder had to step out because of a family tragedy (I am not reciting a script here, something really bad happened to his family)

Joss Whedon, stepped in to finished the movie (though, in the end credit Zack is still the director).

Why is this a better movie?

You can actually tell which bits were done by Zack and and which were done by Joss.

Do the scenes unify seamlessly... You decide for yourself.

In Batman vs Superman, Wonder Woman (the irony) was born.

This movie introduces Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash.

Were any of these characters fleshed out?

For me, definitely Aquaman.

In the comic books his origin.... is convoluted at best. The introduction of The Atlantis Chronicles, made it even MORE confusing....

Let's see if James Wan can do something about that.

Looks like Warner is going to make A LOT of money with this, and frankly, I myself is relief.

Shine DC, shine as you should!!

Tornado Girl (Jap) - 4/10
Not sure what story they tried to tell here slasher or romance but the nonsense ending 'canceled' the entire movie buildup. Both lead character also annoying. Skip.

The Kid from the Big Apple: Before We Forget (2017) - 7.5/10
Story about family unity and support. Heartfelt heartwarming movie. Touching dialogue. Promising performances from local actor/actress. Don't be afraid to show your weaknesses. You'll cry you'll laugh. You'll cry again and you'll laugh again. Highly recommended.
