Special effects are great but the plot line lost it for me. Why did they not try to radio for help earlier? This also negates the need to go to the dam if you think about it. Apes spent 10 years in the wild and still have not mastered spoken language but after the humans appeared they master it in a couple of days? Right..... Apes suddenly knows how to handle firearms. They have been 10 years in the woods with no contact with humans since and I'll bet there were new generations that haven't even seen firearms and suddenly they were shooting like pros? Heck, even humans would be having difficulty handling firearms with no instructions whatsoever. Humans dumbed down to unbelievable levels. If you are prepping to go to war would you leave all your firearms outside with just 2 guards and don't even think to beef up security even after those 2 guards got killed? It happened in the movie and I guess if they were so dumb they deserved to get killed by apes. Apes have a knack to learn politics and back-stabbing techniques at an incredible rate. Koba turned evil and sly overnight after contact with humans. If he wanted to get the top position why wait? And if he was loyal for 10 years why turn so suddenly? Doesn't make much sense. Last but not least - apes firing two assault rifles (one in each hand) while riding on a horse going full gallop and could still stay on horse and shoot straight. Since when do we have recoiless rifles?

That student, John Maloof amassed 100,000 negatives of Vivian’s work. The big draw of her myth was that she’s a recluse nanny who took a lot of great street photography on her spare time. The documentary focus on unveiling who was Vivian Maier as a person and photographer. With any feel good story beats there bound to be darker side of things to her personality. It’s one of those “fact stranger than fiction” kind of story. You can't help but felt sorry especially her later days in life. On a whole, it’s a “fascinating” watch, especially if you are fan of her work. She deserved a spot next to the great Bresson, Robert Frank and Gary Winnograd. Getting Started Junior Member 135 posts Joined: Dec 2013	Boyhood – A 12 years in the making film. Y0oX0xiwOv8 It’s a miracle that Richard Linklater manages to keep this movie under wrap for 12 freaking long years. We literally witness Mason growing up before our eyes. The movie chronicles what it’s really like to go through from adolescence to young adult. Moving from one home to another as mom went through a couple of marriages. While Ethan Hawke plays the cool dad who comes in and out of his life for some positive influence. Those who are fans of Linklater’s “Before” Trilogy will be at ease with this remarkable “Boyhood”. It retains the same attention to characterisation and relatable situations without ever going melodramatic. It’s quite mind blowing for all the casts to commit into this huge undertaking. Easily one of the best drama this year.

u come at the king, u best not miss Senior Member 748 posts Joined: Apr 2012 From: Planet Earth	just finish watching expandables 3- i have to say i was not satisfied with the story or screenplay. even though it has a huge cast the film doesn't seem to keep the audience at the edge of the seat, and the stunts where so cheeky. i am sorry sly, even though i am ur big fan, this movie was a big let down to me.. if u really bored and got nothing to do then i suggest u to go and watch the movie or if ur a sly fan like me just go and give it a try and don't expect too much finally i give 2.5/5

The more you sin the more you win Senior Member 2,867 posts Joined: Jan 2003	Amazing Spider-Man 2. Hey it wasn't bad actually. Its bathed in familiarity but the leads are good andthere are quite a number of good individual scenes. But the music throughout is truly horrible. And that includes the very out of place pop songs. Wouldn't surprised me if Zimmer also supervised the song selection.

They had to ration their power usage, remember, when they first got the hydro power plant working and they played music, it was a long time since they had heard music playing. I suppose they only use power for things that allowed them to have some resemblance of living. The apes choose not to use spoken language, because they saw it as "human", They stuck to sign language because not ALL human used it. Apes suddenly knows how to handle firearms. I think Koba's resentment had be growing, it is just that, there was nothing to push Koba over the edge, when the humans arrived, they pushed Koba over the edge, because he saw Caesar helping human as an ultimate betrayal... He would work in a ultra secret military lab, and because Caesar is kinda Patient X, Franco needs him to complete another reverse strain of flu virus that would a) Stop humans from dying from the original strain of virus b) Dumb down the apes again. France wants to capture Caesar peacefully and gets his co operation in this matter, the the military has no issue capturing Caesar dead of alive... And there is where conflict ensues.... You have been warned. This is essentially a love story. If you are the romantic kind, then this could be for you with a little twist. Starring Matt Damon as David Norris and Emily Blunt as Elise Sellas, Damon's love interest and I mean serious love interest, this movie is about the 2 above mentioned characters with a few action scenes thrown in. The movie starts with an interesting premise but never really goes anywhere with it. I guess they were a little to timid to tread where no man has gone before with a subject that is quite universally sensitive. It asks the viewers to believe in God or a higher power or whatever you want to call it and sets up an interesting framework. Too bad the producers dare not run with it. Anyhow, it's a nice distraction for a lazy afternoon if you don't wanna go too deep. Rating : 2.5 out of 5 stars

Getting Started Junior Member 135 posts Joined: Dec 2013	Frank - The weirdest film I've seen this year. -catC4tBVyY Not by any means a biopic of "Frank Sidebottom" - a cult TV personality in England. Beside the weird giant head mask, it's a complete original tale that pays homage to the real Frank. A failed musician somehow got himself into a band that led by Frank. Hijinks and really funny scenes ensues with each passing moment, things getting stranger and crazier. The last 30 mins got a bit dark and sad, an abrupt tonal shift. There are a lot of things to love about the film. Strong cast members, quirky comedy, and majority of the soundtrack were performed by the real actors. I gonna steal a line from avclub review - "... Frank conceals Michael Fassbender’s face, but not his talent." A ballsy move coming from an a-list actor who hid behind the mask for 95% of the movie. His physical comedy is all refreshing, especially compare to his usual serious character works. He even sang the end credit song which is quite good and catchy. Also can not discount Domhnall Gleeson, who seems on the edge of becoming a breakout star. A charming and endearing film.

Getting Started Junior Member 135 posts Joined: Dec 2013	The Rover ChM2icbWo9w Follow up film to one of the more interesting director around. David Michod’s “Animal Kingdom” was an awesome crime drama that puts Joel Edgerton on the map and Oscar nom for Jacki Weaver. “The Rover” takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting with strong emphasis on character story. Guy Pearce sorta reprise his “The Proposition” character tracking his stolen vehicle while Robert Pattison plays a half-wit hostage who can lead him to his car. It’s a film heavily relies on strong acting as we are not being told upfront what these characters are. Bits of backstory slowly emerge as they navigate the lawless bleak society where life does not amount to anything. There’s a career in the making role for Robert Pattison here who shed his teen idol persona. In RDJ’s wisdom, he went full “retard” in a good way with his performance. Another in the book performance for Guy Pearce, who is one of the most underrated actor working today. The use of music is highly reminiscent of Jonny Greenwood’s dissonant style which simply compliment the morbid tone the film takes. A lighter watch than “Animal Kingdom” but not as drab as John Hillcoat’s “The Road”.
