I am using UniFi VIP5. before Jan 1st. DNS Setting in all my device(laptop,desktop,smart phone) was auto. but now I Cant browse

I need to set tmnet DNS server 202.188.0.133 into TCP/IP properties.

Anyone facing this problem ? what is the solution ?

Yeah..same. Configured router to use Google DNS. TS, suggest that u change ur DNS to others beside TM DNS.. Google or Norton DNS performance is good.

i actually have the same problem. i just got my unifi installed over the past weekend. But i had troubles with loading the websites, i need to refresh several times, though sometimes the websites load properly. But most of the time, it just does not load properly. I tested with another laptop, and the condition seems to be much better than mine.

I just changed the DNS to google, and everything just works perfectly fine, the loading is fast, speed is fast.

May i know what is the problem actually?

simple..TM DNS performance is terrible..even 3rd party DNS servers can outperform them.

what TS said, that "auto" no longer works, but still work by set the TM dns manually on computer network settings,
so TM's DNS servers are working fine,

the problem is your router fails to obtain DNS correctly from TM, so without DNS assigned on your router, any devices, laptops, computers connected to the router do not get DNS automatically since there is no proper DNS from the router,

and that is why you can browse by adding DNS to your computer network settings

two options:
- just like you did now, set DNS for every computer, laptop, devices to get it work

- get access to your TM unifi's router, check the DNS settings, better use manual, you can set TM's DNS in it ,but I recommend you to use Google DNS, set it in the router so all your laptop, computer, devices will work again with "auto" assign dns like old times

yes, that's TM DNS problem, Google DNS is much better, I've been using it for years

OpenDNS is better, google tend to gather information

i try to use google dns and it solve the webpage loading error, but i find out that the download speed is slower compared to tm dns. Is this normal?

DNS server only translate your www. websites to ip addresses, doesn't affect your download speed as after you get the ip address, its your connection between the ip server and you only.

If the DNS server is down, you cannot open a website via the URL but if using the server IP of it will load.

dns is used to resolve url
it will not affect dl speed but speed to resolve url which isnt significant normally

some time the IP we get in UniFi also matters .. earlier days we only get 175.** IP .. nowadays I notice getting 218.** series

175.** are much better than 218.**

Same here..I am having this issues now. Using Google DNS and unable to resolved. Try to ping google dns and it is ok without packet loss at all. Put it to comodo dns also unable to resolved.

Then, get back to Unifi DNS and everything works well but when I try to go google.com, everything will stuck and then need to reboot and connect again in order to browse..

Any ideas??
