My Home Theather System : PS3 Slim, Pioneer VSX920, Klipsch RF-82(floorstand), Klipsch RC-62(Center) and PSB Image B15(surround), Velodyne CHT-10Q Subwoofer.

I'm happy with my HT system for Blu-ray Movie's, BUT NOT for Audiophiles CD.. My interest is more on MOVIE's, but I just hope if CD player can help in term of CD Audio quality, than I don't mind to invest another RM1k on it, if really not much a different within PS3 and CD player, than better I save it!! Please

So is it the CD player can deliver huge different in term of Audio quality compare with PS3 Slim player?

So All sifu, please help me to search which brand / model of CD player worth to BUY??

My budget wil be around RM1k. icon_rolleyes.gif

To the OP: Did you enable the 176.4kHz output on your PS3? You can only do this if the PS3 is connected with HDMI to your Pioneer receiver, and if your Pioneer DAC can handle that frequency.

Basically the PS3 is upconverting the sampling rate of CD audio from 44.1kHz to 176.4kHz. That's four times the sampling rate. As always, garbage in and garbage out in upconverting so if your CD is not recorded well, you won't hear it any better upconverted.

Thanks for your info, after I change the Audio setting enable to 176.4khz on PS3, the sound much louder and clean than before (44.1khz), now not so bad... wink.gif

Marantz CD5004 or CA Topaz CD10 is below RM1K. Not sure about how well could a PS3 handles music but I doubt it could beat a dedicated CDP.

I think PS3 can'tbeat CDP, but after I setting still can be accept.. Bro, have to take a rest since I just bought a RF-82 sweat.gif

The upsampling algorithm uses the power of the Cell. In fact, this was one of the earliest features of the PS3's firmware. If the CD transport is the only reason to get a CDP - allowing that a dedicated CD player doesn't mess with the digital data prior to digital delivery to the receiver/DAC, then the upsampling by the Cell makes up for the gap in fidelity. It is however seems unlikely that the BD transport could inaccurately track CD data when the data pits of BD is much smaller than CD's data pits.

If the OP had the original "fat" PS3s with SACD playback, that can be used as an excellent SACD transport. The programming on that feature was done with direct consultation with Sony's SACD engineers. It can enable a direct DSD transfer to a DSD capable receiver. Your RSX920 can only handle stereo DSD however.

Bor..a bit technical, not so understand rclxub.gif , can u please explaint it a bit simply way, sorry Im noob la!!

I'll invest another RM1k for CD player if the CDP can deliver a BIG different sound Audio compare with PS3 Slim without changing or ADD any integrated Amp sweat.gif .

My first testing after recently bought a Klipsch RF-82 floorstand, the PS3 audio a bit under perform, BUT after I been advice by ''writesimply'' to change the Music setting from 48khz to 176.4khz @ PS3 Slim, the sound quality was totaly change, much better!!

For those has try to compare within PS3 slim sound audio with CD player, please give some advice whether worth to buy a CD player for audiophile music without change or ADD any of my Home Theathre system.

Thanks for ALL sifu advice, very appreciate!!

Almost every part doh.gif so sorry about that..

Make it simply - just answer me one quetion, based on ur opinion, within my HT system, do u think I need or worth to buy a CD player?? JUST a CD Player without upgrade/add any system. do you think the sound will change much better?

My actual hobbies is watching movies (home theather), is because I just bought a floorstand speaker (Klipsch RF-82), than I hope even in MUSIC also can be acceptable!!

Thanks thumbup.gif
