Acess a local server's website?

Hi guys,
How do I setup the Ipad to access a local server's website? 1. For the server, the website is setup in IIS with the host header "develop.demo.com" 2. For PC and laptop in office, we add value in the hosts file: 192.168.2.6 develop.demo.com 3. Why not just access the server via its IP address, e.g. http://192.168.2.6?
