Hi,
I pugged my ACER 4920G into one of those variable power supply units. It made several clicking sounds then went blank, leaving a discernable burnt smell.

How badly have I damaged the laptop and is there some way I can check the damamge myself?

Help pleeeeease!

Unless you are capable to open up the notebook casing else send it to notebook repair shop and let them check it.

Send to Highpoint (Acer service center). Don't send to normal computer shop.
Even if you know how to disassemble the notebook but you have no hardware to replace the burnt parts.
