Hi all..i got a question in mind..is it possible to share my Samsung BX2231 currently connected to the desktop with astro beyond decoder..the current setup is just a normal desktop connection plus a 5.1 logitech..

i think i'm stuck on the connection of the speaker system since my LCD does not have built in speaker thus the hdmi cable option is out..i'm hoping to get to switch between astro and PC at ease..thank you

well, its not a TV that i'm trying to connect to..it's an LCD monitor which does not have built-in speaker..

the problem is..i want to use astro beyond with this monitor
1. is it possible to connect 5.1 speaker to beyond decoder?
2. is it possible to have 2 setup sharing the monitor : PC + astro + LCD with the 5.1 speaker ?

1. yes. byond output 5.1 through HDMI or digital coax. Your speaker must accept input from either source like Z-5500. But there's no analog 5.1 out from byond box. Note that only some program in HD channels have 5.1 audio.
2. I believe your monitor have 2 HDMI port, so it's possible. But you must make sure it support HDCP. How you connect from PC to speaker though?

1. i see..my speaker doesn't have HDMI input. does that mean i need to use digital coax? how much is the cable? i don't mind if astro doesn't support 5.1, it's just i want to utilise the speaker that i have smile.gif

2. i connect my speaker directly to the sound card on my pc..

Your speaker doesn't support digital input. So, you won't get 5.1 from byond. But you still can use analog output from byond to your speaker & can get virtual (or fake tongue.gif ) surround.

You need Y-RCA adaptor to split the input, but make sure only 1 source is active at 1 time.
