Basically, it's a standard phone cam that needs a lot of light to get nice pics.

Agreed on the camera .. is really something it can be better especially we are talking about 5 M. Even my old K810i takes better pictures than this LG. The IE also sometimes go on white screen till I need to take out the battery to refresh it. Sigh.. I am getting a feeling that I bought the wrong phone :-(

white screen? was the phone still responsive? did you try turning the phone to potrait orientation and then tap the screen to see if the tool bar and address bar comes up?

Reason I'm asking is that I noticed that sometimes, when you execute stuff through IE (watch video throuhg youtube app, PDF, XLS, etc. etc.) Sometimes IE gets left on a blank white page and thus we think it has hung.

never really took a look at the converted files. But if you want to convert files, use this to convert http://handbrake.fr/ use the iphone 4G profile output to mp4 file.

then move the file using the media drive method.

This is a common problem for mobile data. Once connection established, it will not dc itself unless u are out if coverage. Reset the data connection by disable data and enable it back will go back normal.

Back in days like the rom is small. Reboot is require when buffer is low.

Let's hope the next updates from Microsoft will rectifies those glitches and hopefully make it better. At the meantime, I hope Skype will reconsider the decision to make it applicable to Win7 too.

basically means.. GPS signal couldn't lock, therefore your location is being determined by network IP. and it's saying.. Dubai.

My biggest beef with LG optimus (or WP7 in general) is that you cant reply to *118# command. Even the first iphone 2g with firmware 1.0.1 can do it, no excuses why it cant.

Even though most people said Optimus got the best battery life among WP7 phones, it's even worse than iphone 3g. I manage to drain the battery twice after full charges in 24hrs.

Big annoyance, you cant turn off the camera click sound.. and IT'S LOUD!!!!

Yeah, the USSD command has problems, there is a chance if you chain the commands ie. *118*1*2# but it gets a bit crazy sometimes.

Who mentioned that the Optimus has the best battery? Still same small battery as the other phones. Battery life depends highly on what you're doing and everything, but of course I'd say max is probably one day.

As for the camera click sound, one thing which I keep wondering why people keep complaining when they cant turn off camera click sounds. the sound comes out from a small slit on the phone. take your thumb press against said hole and u can muffle most of the sound. In the optimus case just plug the ear grill.

i have to ask the below question first before i post u a "might be" solution.

1. are your optimus 7 a branded(T-Mobile, Vodafone, Starhub... etc) but unlocked(telco SIM unlocked) set?

2. Did you enable cookie at IE setting??

try this

1. Go to the phone app
2. Dial ##634# and click Send
3. When prompted for a password type 277634#*#
4. You should now be at "Factory Menu"
5. Choose "Engineer Menu"
6. Choose "Other Setting"
7. Verify that "Set ADC" is set to Enable
8. From the "Other Setting" page, choose "Set network profile"
9. You should now be on the "Set network profile" page and in the bottom half of the window you should see a list of *.xml files. These appear to be the network configuration files.
10. Look at the filenames for the config files and take your best guess at which one to choose for your provider. if you are on CELCOM. try to find a xml file which have CELCOM in it.

After you choose that *.xml profile, your MMS should be working.

tried it... and is CLM_MY stands for celcom malaysia?

however, i've accidentally click other provider from which country i dont know..and cant change it back at the "set network profile" area.
Even clicking CLM_MY and some other give me an error message. doh.gif

But setting it back at the "Network Profile" in "Setting" menu seems to get my celcom network back. sweat.gif

if the CLM_MY stands for celcom..then will try it again. for now cant send MMS.

Will do..and will give feedback later.

I've emailed Celcom about this MMS problem yesterday..but they hv not yet call/reply.

Added on January 30, 2011, 12:11 amtried the _PROV_CLM_MY_502_19.xml ... but to no avail. still unable to send mms.

maybe this is not the xml..but i cant find any other which resemble Celcom than this one.

will wait for Celcom technical person to call me then. if they call that is....

Added on January 30, 2011, 2:33 pmHi all, i was wondering what is the best cover/ casing for protecting optimus 7? Is there any zagg invincible cover for this phone? And what do you all use as the phone physical protection?

A) MMS Settings for Celcom LG Optimus 7

When I read first this thread, I did not try it b'cos of other comments said it did not work. Today I went to another forum and they suggested the same instructions. Decided to give it a try today and ..... whollaa ... been using my LG Optimus 7 since Celcom launced it last year ... I finally sent my first MMS rclxms.gif

As my own personal record I changed the last instruction as follows:

10. Look at the filenames for the config files.
For Celcom, use "_PROV_CLM_MY_502_19.xml" (there are two xml files with CLM_MY ... do not use the other one)
Note: Once selected the xml file turns into green color or whatever color you selected as Accent color under theme setting.

Having completed instructions 1 until 10, try send MMS. When sending make sure your phone does not go into sleep ... keep on pressing the screen (just to make sure since I disable the notification) ... I sent 3 x MMS to 3 friends ... 2 x MMS were successful and 1xMMS did not go through even after several retries ... must be network ... not sure hmm.gif

B) Forwading SMS for LG OPTIMUS 7

In case someone is still trying to figure out how to forward sms ... it is in the manual. It stated as follows:

1. On the Start screen, tap Messaging and then tap the conversation that has the text message you want to forward.

2. Tap and hold a message and then tap Forward.

3. Type the person's name, mobile phone number or email address in the To: box.

4. Tap the message box, type a message if you'd like, and then tap Send

Hope this helps brows.gif

ps
Can't wait for WP7 update in Mar'11 thumbup.gif

Pairing with what? if with PC i dont think WP7 can through Bluetooth (I also hv tried..and fail). U hv to use cable of wifi. Though I still dont know how to make it work with Wifi (any help would be grateful too... biggrin.gif )

IF pairing with devices such as BT headset...I see no problem with mine. It straight away detect and connect. Ironically it does not ask for the headset pin number, whereas when using WINmo..a first time connection it will ask for a pin code.

With a BT headset.

I read thru a few problems and it seems that the BT failing to connect is quite a prevalent issue. Apparently due to a faulty motherboard.

I will just claim warranty then.

Dear All,

I read it on the Internet that it is not OTA. It has to be done through Zune, of which I tried and would like to share my experience.

After connecting my LG Optimus 7 to Zune and pressing update for phone in Zune, it prompted that update is available. Owners' of Samsung WP7, please do a research in the Internet as several Samsung phone owners had some serious bad experiences. But for LG Optimus 7 owner ... please read on biggrin.gif

1) 1st attempt
After I pressed update, Zune displayed ongoing process, there were 10 stages all together. It was all fine until stage 6 and I remembered reading those who had bad experience their update stopped at stage 6. Somehow after short while my LG Optimus 7 bounced back, it did a soft reset and recovered. At that time, Zune displayed message saying my phone was not updated. Escaped from almost bad experience, I quickly tested my phone and it seemed to be working normally.

2) 2nd attempt
Knowing my LG Optimus 7 could recover, I decided to give it another go. Wholla ..... it completed stage 6 and advancing into stage 7 and this took a while. I think this was the time when the firmware was transferred from my notebook to my wp7. It showed the progress from 0% until 100% ... I did not time it but I think around 20mins or more. After the completion of stage 10 ... my LG Optimus 7 was updated and ready thumbup.gif

Under Setting > About > more information

OS version: 7.0.7008.0
Firmware revision number: 1.0.2.10
Hardware revision number: 1.0.0.0
Radio software version: 1.0.2.10
Radio hardware version: 0.3.5.0
Bootloader version: 1.5.0.0
Chip SOC version: 0.30.2.0

Don't take my words for it ... this is just my personal observations.

1) Opening up video file on my phone seems slight faster.
2) Still trying to get my phone frozen when browsing Marketplace ... that is the only way I know to get my LG Optimus 7 to freeze. Oh, btw ... with my HTC Touch HD WM6.1 ... I had a long list to achieve this.
3) Accessing Internet seems faster ... did a bandwidth test ... never achieved before 3.41Mbps for downloading speed using "S" Bandwidth apps... yeah, I know you guys probably could get better speed with the other operators using better data plan ... but I just simply compared with previous data using same phone and same carrier except the new tiny update from Microsoft.

Well, that's all ... merely sharing because one dude asked the above quoted question. icon_idea.gif

Sorry to hear it didn't work for you. cry.gif

Hope the next wp7 update will help you with the issue.

Anyway ... here's what I have under Settings:

i) mobile network -> MY CELCOM
ii) region & language > Malaysia

Pls check again, under Engineer Menu > Other Setting > Set network profiles.

When you enter Set network profiles ... it will show message, "Please wait a few seconds. Reading data..." After that verify "_PROV_CLM_MY_502_19.xml" is in different color than the other xml files. This is the indication of current xml in use by your phone. For my case it is in green color following the accent color which I set up under Theme setting.
DO NOT use, "_PROV_V100_CLM_MY_502_19.xml".

It this doesn't help ... you have to wait for the Celcom guy to call you, I guess. blush.gif

Copy & Paste some link for information on LG Optimus 7 since no one has yet to put it here. smile.gif

user posted image

The::unwired have reviewed HTC’s Media Link, which allows music, pictures and video to be streamed via DLNA to any television with HDMI input.
The device, which will cost between £80 and £90, is intended by HTC to work with their Android handsets, but appears to work perfectly well with any DLNA-compatible device, including Windows 7 PC’s and the LG Optimus 7.

Arne notes:
The HTC Media Link offers a hassle-free setup and allows users to easily stream content from a PC or mobile device to a TV-set which might not feature DLNA support. The setup is easy and straight forward and doesn’t requires any special network or AV knowledge. Right after the Media Link was connected to the flat screen and tuned on, I immediately found the WiFi SSID, broadcasted by the box and from there I was able to stream MP3, photos and even HD videos to the TV set. And while the HTC Media Link was announced as an accessory for the DLNA-enabled HTC Desire HD and Desire Z, in the tests it worked with every DLNA enabled device. For instance it allows to stream content from any Windows 7 PC since DLNA is part of Windows 7 but it also worked fine with the LG Optimus 7, the first and so far only Windows Phone 7 smartphone which comes with DLNA.

Until DLNA-compatible televisions become wide spread it appears to be a pretty simple upgrade to your current set, and who knows, maybe at some point HTC will bring DLNA to their Windows Phone 7 handsets also.

Link to the actual article.

This seems like a good device to get, for fast presentation from your phone.

Sick and tired of checking for NoDo update thru Zune ... check out the link below on how to tame "NoDo" ... thanks to Bonebreaker of xda-developers.

Get the NoDo Update right now!

It works for me. thumbup.gif

Below is latest info of my LG Optimus 7.

OS version :7.0.7390.0
Firmware revision number: 1.0.2.10
Hardware revision number: 1.0.0.0
Radio software version: 1.0.2.10
Radio hardware version: 0.3.5.0
Bootloader version: 1.5.0.0
Chip SOC version: 0.30.2.0

I'm not sure if it is the same for HTC WP7 but for those who got the LG Optimus 7 from Celcom, you can skip the registry hack since your phone is already unbranded ... with "000-88". Just straight go to step 1, read and follow the instructions carefully. I tried it several times finally managed to get it worked. rclxm9.gif

It is much faster for my phone to access Marketplace and to load apps. Btw, now my phone can also do what my other family members phones can do, ever since they got their phones ... that is ... cut & paste.

One thing that I was so eager about NoDo ... earlier I read it here ... after NoDo update, the wp7 would accept credit card with addr outside US. But that statement now is missing and I assumed MS took it out.

The wp7 now can accept the credit card but it still requires Singapore address since the region is preset to Singapore. If more people have updated to NoDo ... perhaps someone will figure out and finally I get to buy some apps ... soon hmm.gif I guess, that is the reason why MS took out the statement from WP7 Update history site.

try this

Yeah, Nokia already has good camera quality on existing phones. They just need that 1 GHz processor for their WP7 phones.

The Optimus is a very good Windows 7 Phone. At least if you haven't tried Amoled of S-LCD screen before. After that, you'll notice immediately that the screen is not the best compared to other offering. Spec wise, its worse than the HD7.

On the plus side, it has one of the longest battery life compared to the other wp7 phone, here Mozart being the worse.

If I'm not mistaken, spec wise, Optimus 7 is BETTER than the HD7. I've seen the camera recording demo, very smooth compared to HD7. The only thing it falls short is the 3.8 inch screen. (Optimus 7 uses NAND flash so it is a lot faster than the HD7).

It's a tad bit heavy though.

what makes u say HD7 is better than Optimus 7? the HD7 is not any better than optimus 7.. the hardware is EXACTLY IDENTICAL except for the screen & battery size.

what i like about optimus 7 is the smaller screen, bigger battery thus better batt life.

depends on usage.. i unplug my phone from charger around 715am.

when i use my RSS reader, emails, games often, batt kong by 8pm.
when i use it occasionally on sms and phone calls, amazingly, before i sleep at 11pm it is still at quarter.

when i dont use it (leave it standby) by the time i sleep at 11pm, it is still at half charge.

btw, i use it normally in EDGE mode (disable 3G) because my office area 3G connection teruk. if i leave 3G on, keep switching from 3G and EDGE, batt kong by 12pm (afternoon).

how about u?

using NoDo build, can barely last me for 6 hours.. then updated to Mango Beta.. last me around 12 hours. then if i switch on battery saver mode, last me around 20 hours. All with 3G mode on.

All with moderate use: 30-1hour of youtube, 2hours of music, 1 hour of web surfing, 15-20 mins of lurking around marketplace,50 sms and around 30-1hour of calls. didnt include those app running push notification as when i set battery saver, no more push notification.

With NoDo it was a bit of struggling after each power off. Pairing must be done again and only after several tries it got paired successfully.

But with Build 7661, 7712 and now I'm on 7720, bluetooth pairing is not a problem at all. In fact last I did the pairing was at Build 7661, after upgrade to 7712 and 7720 the pairing still there rclxms.gif

OS version: 7.10.7720.68
Firmware revision number: 1.0.2.10
Hardware revision number: 1.0.0.0
Radio software version: 1.0.2.10
Radio hardware version: 0.3.5.0
Bootloader version: 1.5.0.0
Chip SOC version: 0.30.2.0

With 7720, LG apps store is accessible from Marketplace. Personally I feel it runs smoother and faster compared to 7712 and to compare with NoDO ... way way way much better rclxm9.gif Also, Internet connection is better and getting more of HSDPA ... faster Internet ... but than again it varies from carrier to carrier, the data package that u have and where you are. I just compared before and after 7720 at my home and ... Internet connection just got faster than before ... unless Celcom did their network upgrade which I doubt.

One thing I would like to share, from 7712 I did revert back to NoDo just to be prepared for official Mango update. Once I was back in NoDo, LG apps store was accessible again. I used LG Network Setup after I upgraded back to 7712 and that messed up my Internet connection ... it became slow and unstable just like with NoDo. Redo the whole process again and back to 7712 and leave it as it was without using LG Network Setup and the Internet connection was just fine. I guess LG Network Setup is not meant for Mango yet for now.

Actually it started from NoDo, then i try flash to 7712 doesnt work either and lastly, 7720.. also not helping. Haihz. Probably this means bluetooth hardware problem.

hmm.gif Before you declare it's hardware related, make sure no other bluetooth devices are around during the pairing. I always turned on WP7 bluetooth first and then the bluetooth device. Place both very near to each other during pairing. Once paired, do the same to get connected by switching on WP7 bluetooth and then bluetooth device. For bluetooth connection, both devices do not have to be very near.

Good luck. biggrin.gif

I am not sure about other HTC phone that probably using external speaker, optimus 7 is using just one speaker. Hence the volume its abit lower. Like marauderz said, it wasn't meant for broadcast or play through speaker..

for those who are not yet on mango, pay a visit to your LG service center as they can upgrade your optimus 7.

I had a problem last nite trying to force mango update on missus's phone and then end up with error - my phone only display LG logo when reset.

This morning, send the phone to LG centre at Kelana Jaya. It seems to be hardware problem, and I ask the guy at the center to upgrade mine to mango after they replaced the phone's board. Now by wife is happy with a 'new' phone with mango.

call waiting services are normally need to register with MelCo which certain charges per month might be apply. once they have activated from MelCo.

u have to dial *43# to activate it over ya Optimus 7.

Try these :

1) switch off your phone.
2) take of the battery.
3) pull out the sim card.
4) wait for 10 - 15 min.
5) put in the sim card back.
6) put in the battery.
7) switch on your phone.

With luck, your phone will be configured with the correct data setting if still fail. try to chance your APN setting.

firmware update coming to our phone to enable the wifi thethering.
http://wmpoweruser.com/firmware-upgrade-br...e-lg-optimus-7/

when can we get it?

Added on October 31, 2011, 4:46 pmI was asking LG My support regarding the firmware update.
below is their reply:-

Dear valued Mr. Rushdan

Refer to your inquiry, Mr. Rushdan can take the phone E900 for firmware update at LG Service Centre for WP7.5(Mango). The new OS WP7.5 (Mango) is able to do WIFI Internet Sharing. Meanwhile, Mr. Rushdan also can refer to the LG Mobile Support Tool if you wish to update it DIY by internet ( http://www.lg.com/my/support/mc-support/mo...one-support.jsp ). I wish to thank for your inquiry.

I got my update through Zune a few weeks ago (was in Germany back then, maybe that's why?). Works ok, on PC only with Zune running (huh?), Android phone can use the WiFi no problem, just works. Battery life will be horrible though I suppose...

Let's hope the next updates from Microsoft will rectifies those glitches and hopefully make it better. At the meantime, I hope Skype will reconsider the decision to make it applicable to Win7 too.

When I bought my 2nd battery, the LG service center told me the non-original battery will be difficult to find which many LG WP7 owners may agree including you smile.gif.

So, if you are in KL, go to this address:

LG Service Center,
Ground Floor, Kelana Brem Tower 2,
Jalan Stadium SS7/15,
47301 Kelana Jaya, Selangor.

Remember to look for Service Dept and I paid RM69.39 for it. It is cheap for ori battery as compared to HTC ori battery which last time cost more than RM150 for my HTC Touch HD.

I just got notification update for my LG Optimus 7 ... now charging my battery to be more than 50% before updating my WP7 ... stay tuned smile.gif

Update: Finished updating ... no more have to deal with wacky keyboard smile.gif

There's no update when I check for updates from the phone...
But when I connect the phone to the PC.. it automatically tells me there's an update and yeah... Now there's Internet Sharing

The update comes off as a surprise when I woke up this morning since I waited for it for a long time too. The optimus just gotten awesomer! The last thing I wanted for this phone, and now it completes me (aside from a front facing camera which is impossible) laugh.gif

Ahhhhh ... I guess we now come to realize that another allllllmost waterproof Windows Phone exists besides Fujitsu Windows Phone ... brows.gif . Glad that your LG Optimus 7 is still working.

Hmmmmm ... Internet sharing now available for LG Optimus 7. Waited long time for it but when it is available I still can't benefit from it. Reason ... I passed my LG Optimus 7 just recently to a family member and got me a new 2nd Gen WP7.

With the new WP7 phone, still can't sideload and no Internet Sharing but ... loving it brows.gif
