Make sure you are using PowerDVD 10 Ultra 3D and not any other PowerDVD 10, the rest doesn't play Blu-ray, only the Ultra version play Blu-ray. I prefer ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre though.

Then you might want to try ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre, or get a lower version of PowerDVD. The new one seems a bit cranky, it doesn't even run on my system just because I am using dual screen with one in portrait mode lol

*Btw, to all, this is just an opinion. Not promoting or encouraging usage of pirated software*

Mate,

You might need to uninstall the K-Lite Codec and download the Shark007 Win7 Codec and install it. My PC with Windows 7 Ultimate Edition x64 uses Win7 codec pack c/w x64 add-on. And i'm using latest patched *ahem* version of PowerDVD Ultra 3D v 10.2xxx (cant remember).

You need to make sure that you have the Region code by default to Region A. I'm still doing some finding on how to tackle the Region code issue. Needs an editing on the registry. Set to 65k i remember the last i read somewhere.

Does your graphic card has HDMI output? or its DVI? You need to calibrate the graphic cards settings.

Region lock shouldnt be a problem, for example if you are on Region A and your BD is b, when playback the BD, the software will change your drive region to match the BD region, automatically.
But only for 5 times, if you keep playback different region of BD your drive will be locked to only one region.

AND, most BD are region-lock free one iirc...

Make sure the BD is playable on stand alone BD player too.

Great, see if that helps. Get both 32bit client and the x64 add-on. Great, so HDMI sorted out. Let us know what happens after reverting codec pack.
Do reboot your machine for changes to happen.

Do not install any trial version or newly released patch on top of your *ahem* version of PowerDVD ultra 3D

Ok, that's weird. What's your Blu-ray ROM model. Did you patch the firmware recently?

I had the similar problem, where i patched the firmware by mistake and i got the similar error. I had to return the drive to the shop and they changed it for me with some excuse given. Are you playing an original Blu-ray disc?

If so, what movie you're trying to load? I'm pretty sure that your BDROM plugged to SATA slot?. Let me see if i can help you on this.

P/S :

1. Download the latest patch for the PDVD Ultra 3D. And install it. See if it helps. There's alot of possibilities. You need to be very patient.
2. Make sure your video driver is up to date.
3. Also, try playing with the video settings and turning the hardware acceleration on and off

Does it able to read any data disc? Try playing an original DVD instead. Try reading any Data disc that you have.

Ok, that's great. So you know now that it's definitely not drive issue. This is software problem.

You sure your graphic card has the latest driver installed?. This is definitely has to do with your display setting. Have you tried reading a DVD movie, does it play on PowerDVD Ultra 3D?

I'll check it when i'm off work later in the morning and get back to you with the Display settings. I suspect its display issue.

Yep, it does for better optimization of your video playback. Ok, do one thing. Completely uninstall your current PowerDVD Ultra 3D version 10. Go and download and utmost latest release of PowerDVD (make sure they include the latest patch). Clean your registry of any relating to PowerDVD extensions and System file.

Retain your Win7 Codec pack. I assume you installed both 32bit client & 64bit add-on?. Do a clean install of PowerDVD again.

Make sure the following

1. Graphic driver up-to-date
2. Resolution set to 1920x1080 on your GC setting. Set all your default video setting to follow GC setting not player settings.
3. Refresh rate 59-60hz. (59 better)
4. Un-tick all unnecessary applications and processes running at background.
5. You will find a file called BD Region reset in the PowerDVD Ultra 3D package.
6. Make sure you disable all the unnecessary functions on PowerDVD , like Moovie Live , Auto update etc.
7. Make sure BD-J support is enabled. (For BD menu)
8. Set your default Region code to A. Do not change it to other Region.

Let me know later once you done all this. And try not to straight away play any BD. Run a test on your GC and Display.

Hope this helps you and i will try to figure out the actual issue and respond to you.

Hi sniper,

If PowerDVD refuses to play the BD, try other client like WinDVD Pro, ArcSoft etc. Another thing is if there's an issue with codec compatibility , you might not be able to perform Blu-ray playback.

Windows 7 Build 7068 has a fix for Blu-ray playback. Check your OS build and post it here what you have tried thus far.

2. yeah, it's native resolution; 1920x1080
3. i can't switch to 59Hz
4. this one i'm not sure if related to the problem, but i do disable some though
5. yeap, i do find it, it's with extension *.bat
6. yeap, disabled it too
7. enabled

my Windows 7 x64 Ultimate is 7600.16385
at this moment, i'm trying the trial Corel WinDVD Pro, see if any changes

i tried ArcSoft and PowerDVD, problem persist, my guess, it must be something to do with codec/my OS

the both player did try to play, but for some reason, it seems to be can't render the video playback, the Windows Aero will kick in after player disable it.

Go to http://forum.dvdfab.com/showthread.php?t=10099 and download the trial version of DVDFab Passkey. Install it, then restart your computer.

After that, insert your Blu-ray into your drive, let Passkey decrypt it, and then try using PowerDVD to play the movie.

Dunno really. Try downloading the BD advisor at http://www.cyberlink.com/prog/bd-support/diagnosis.do and post its results here. Make sure DVDFab Passkey isn't loaded when you do this.

That software bypass all protection in a blu-ray disc such as the AACS key and region coding, seems like you are having problem with AACS key in your blu-ray movie. I am guessing that your software is not updated for the new AACS key in Salt. You might want to try out some older blu-ray title, borrow from friend or something and see if it can play without using DVDFab Passkey

software you meant is the media player isn't it? not the codec, display driver or any hotfix in Windows 7?

i also revert back to K-Lite Codec Pack as i more prefer Media Player Classic than the Media Player, i don't know, i just like it...

By software I mean DVDFab passkey, try playing some older blu-ray title without it running, if it can play than most probably your problem is your blu-ray player (powerdvd) is not updated for the latest AACS key

I am not sure about this but I don't think blu-ray playback required external codec, all you need is your blu-ray software, everything you need to decode blu-ray movie is built into it

To be honest all i needed to get my Blu-ray movie playback up and running was codec pack. I did not install any third party tools to decrypt. I downloaded the full version of PowerDVD Ultra 3D , installed the latest patch and all i needed to do next is to insert movie and kick off the shoes and relax..

BD Advisor is just to determine if your system capable of reading Blu-ray disc. Nothing else.

Hmm, too complicated process. I calibrated my video resolution , updated graphic driver. Plugged in with v1.3b HDMI cable and PowerDVD for blu-ray playback. Weird & strange how it works for some people.

Anyway, glad that you resolved your issue.

You should not have any issue with US copy blu-rays i pressume. I've never tried playing any Speedy version blu-rays except lately, Avatar. Was running fine. Watched all 3 Discs and had a great experience of High Definition content.

Happy New Year !
