Static IP routing and static IP is 2 different thing.

Routing means, you set certain IP or network block to go through specific gateway.

Static IP means your IP is static. Just go to http://www.whatismyip.com/ and see wat's is ut IP. Try DC and reconnect again.

Advantage : you can host your own website and assign domain name to your ip

that is what called "manual DHCP"..once your modem MAC address registered, DHCP server will provide you the same ip address tie to the MAC evrytime you disconnect/reconnect.. i'm not sure if they set a lease period for this..

Added on December 28, 2010, 10:55 pmand i dont think they give you static IP

Added on December 28, 2010, 11:10 pmi saw in Unifi website, they giving you 1 fixed IP address (only for BIZ10 & 20) not for VIP

if u know someone with the same router, try using their router after u change the unifi user/pass to urs.. is it the same IP?

to ur use dynamic is better, as u said for the ip refreshes when downloading from file hosting sites..

u r not into gaming/webhosting...etc, static in this case is worse than dynamic... what does it matter if other people are paying for it?

some people are paying for football tickets too..I got one for free! yay!!.. oh wait I dont watch football...

in pppoe like what unifi uses, ip addresses are provided through ipcp, not dhcp.
