i just checked out nikon D3100, omg i was shocked to the quality of the camera... it is made in thailand, the cover for SD memory card is so loose it feels out of place shaky, the zoom was terrible and the salesman wasnt helping... he kept recommending panasonic lumix (a non dslr but it can zoom really really far and the quality is excellent for video and shooting)... wtf... i'm totally disappointed

the lens that come with it 18-55 is really sucks, cant zoom further than a digital cam >.< when the lens rotate out, it was so short like a small 2 inch lil bro -.-

furthermore, the rotate button to live view and viewfinder view is totally unresponsive, either that or the system is so slow to change mode...

Just bot Nikon D3100...feel its a superb camera to use .

So easy to take good pics and very user friendly.

yes, and also the demo unit might have been abused to the extend that the modes take longer time to switch and the cover for memory card is out of place (like a proton car quality)

but today, D3 discontinued ady.. D700 still selling and the oni FF got built in flash!

a check with LYN's mitmivec D7000 kit is around rm4450
so rm4400 aint reli dirt cheap oso
most entry level camera r made in thailand la, even D5000, D90 n D7000

on compact cam equivalent its only 3x optical zoom
even d high priced 18-200 is abt 11x optical zoom only
DSLR is not all abt zooms
if u wan long range there is 300mm, 400mm, 500mm, 600mm, but no zoom, n those costs tens of thousand to hundred thousands ringgit

n y u want lens to rotate out long?
expensive zoom lenses such as 24-70 n 70-200 dun even extends when they zoom

switching frm viewfinder to live view nid to wait d mirror to flip up n shutter to open, definitely will have some delays there

its possible to get it a bit lesser than 1k
can consider 55-200 too, shorter focal length, but AF faster than 55-300 in low light

my low light is something like f/1.8 at iso3200 getting around 1/30, 1/40 speed.
of cos it focuses, but roughly 30-40% will focus short...whereas my  70-300 vr even tho smaller aperture can focus more accurately.

even something like this messing around at 3am...fully extended at 300mm / iso6400...still focuses well enough.


or another one same as the above also at 3am.

I don think there is any Tamron lens better den Nikkor if comparing head to head..... mayb extra function like the VC helps, but sharpness still lack I think.....

Hmm.. I never face situation like that before. I mean never that dark. unless one time I do play stuff in the dark room and my 35mm couldn't focus at all. <- Eventually I use manual focus.
for me personally tamron 1750 is sharper compared to nikon 1750. what do you think? focus? Of course nikon beat tamron
