tq all for the input. so it is actually a codename la. like BMW's E36, E46, or Mercedes W123, W124, etc.

but how come from 5th gen to 6th gen, supposed to be from EJ to EK, then jumped back to EJ again?

Those are the chassis codes. Each generation begins with the specific Ex code

u dont need to confuse ur self.

normally, people would recognize a 5th gen civic as EG while the 6th gen as the EJ or EK. EJ is a local model sold in Malaysia which is imported by Honda Malaysia whereas the EK is an imported by grey importers.

but seriously,

5th - EG
6th - EK

But why is that my in my civic it's written EJ7 1997 ???
Some mechanics also tried to correct me that's EK and not EJ for 97 civic
even though it's clearly written inside the hood sweat.gif

bcoz that generation civic is typically or GENERALLY referred to as EK.

thats it. my civic is an EH chassis but everyone (including myself) refers to it as EG.

just GENERAL reference to the specific generation... thats all.

yes. but need to check compatibility with other parts... eg. if ur car has a stock front end... if u buy the '99 EK9 fender its not gonna fit coz the '99 EK9 headlights are bigger. but if u buy the entire set... then yeah. itll fit with no issues.

in terms of fitment yes... but there are cosmetic changes from 1 chassis to another

my EH is using EG bodyparts.

but take note that there are parts on the 4 door sedan that are different and will not fit in the 3 door sedan. eg. from signal lights.
