Yea, I'm planning to reuse the HDD too.

But I think I might as well get another HDD since mine is so small and for today standard, it's barely enough.

Already edited my 1st post. Into gaming, but not hardcore, high setting type.

How about this
AMD Phenom II X4 955 RM445
MSI 870-G45 RM250
2X2GB DDR3 Ram RM138
Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB RM169
CM Hyper TX3 RM55

Around RM1100
You can keep the extra for upgrade PSU for newer GC like the GTX580 or 6870 laugh.gif

No need cooler, just tweak the fan speed in bios, then the noisy problem will be solved.

Change the mobo into Asrock 870 Extreme 3 for RM355 and you can have a CFX Ready build. Remember to get a more powerful PSU to power it up. For the PSU, you can get Seasonic S12II 620W for RM299 from lingloong.

How about this?

Core i5 2400 - RM609
Asus P8H67-M motherboard - RM439
Kingston 2GB DDR3-1333 x2 - RM136
Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB (HD103SJ) hard disk - RM169

RM1353 total.

Optional:
Asus P8P67 Pro motherboard (CFX/SLI ready) - +RM260
Seasonic S12 II 620W power supply - +RM259 (order from lingloong)

Core i5 2400 blows Phenom II x4 away. Could be cheaper when you buy it on January because of more motherboard selections. Also, H67 motherboards has display port.

Thanks for all the suggestion.

I've been following up on other suggestion threads, and keep finding this SB appearing.

Here are few questions that pop up in my mind now.

1) Will my current PSU able to power up the new proc without needing any upgrade?

2) Will I be needing a 3rd party cooler for the proc? My room is rather hot.

I don't see myself doing CFX/SLi as I already mentioned, I'm not a hardcore gamer - anymore tongue.gif

Do I still need the PSU upgrade? - Planning to use it until it's dead. laugh.gif

The PC is not urgent, though I hope to get it soon. Surviving by using company lappy is not fun.

Can't do anything other that surfing. sweat.gif

Yes, your PSU will be able to power up SB. Core i5 2400 is a 32nm processor and it consumes less power.

Third party cooler is up to you. LGA1155 uses the same mounting as LGA1156. Just watch the temperatures before you decide to buy one.

Haha coz it wont be long before Sandy Bridge is launched so no harm waiting for few more days right?

Anyway, yes ur PSU is fine.A third party cooler is up to u.If u think ur cpu is too hot then u might add it later. For suggestions,u can try CM Hyper 212+.

Ok, thanks for all the suggestions guys.

Appreciate it. I guess I'll wait for few more days to see if any good news regarding the SB.

No longer a Christmas gift, but turn to become a New Year gift. Haha.

Will bump this up in few days time.

Again, Merry Christmas guys.
