anyone keeping arowana with plants...

mine had problem with brown and green algae...

set up...
gravel+ ada soil with 2 tetra 120 filter
co2 and HGlo 39w x 4 T5
Marcelia + nana...java fern all turn black/dark brown (now outside of the house)
1 flag tail...15 sae and 10 otto still could not dun the job right...

any idea...???

I do used Co2 with 2 bps night and day (manually with no solenoid)..moreover all my plants are low light plants..
lighting are with Hagen 3 x 39w Life-Glo and 1 x 39w Power-Glo with 10hr - 12hr daily..
weekly dosing of Brighty-K..Shade and Step 2..tried dosing once every 3 - 4 days resulting in more algae boom..

the ratio is 1 part gravel 1.5 part ADA soil..
the reason why I mix them is that soil tend to "brake" down after some time..as when we do wc it tend to get "milky"..
a sifu in Singapore teach me this as he also breed aro with plants (6ft x 3ft x 2.5ft)..with all kinds of Fern..Nana and Marcelia..6 aro and 50 sae and otto..
what fascinated is his aro all eat fish pallet..(NO KILLING as he said)

I email hagen UK and they said ALL their product have warranty...???

bought 2 set of hagen t5 2x39w ballast system but after used not more than 1 month 1 of the ballast system gone "kaput"...
have been trying to claim and get an answer from the dealer since beginning of may but they reply... 'will investigate and call you back"...

arrrr....

due to lack of lighting... most of my marsilea DIE (turn brown and stop growing)...
(put some outside of the house (in a big plastic tub without fertilization and only natural sunlight)...they all turn green back)...???

tried m in my marselia tank... dam good lahh...

also have unused various fern to let go... my tank can only plant nana and marselia... dun know why????

and finally... bought 50 extra siamese algae eater... now total 60+...
and my algae problem are now solved... no need add chemical to get rid of those algae...

I have 2 tank now... 1 3.5 ft with aro... the set up as what I post at the signature part...

the 1 that I used excel are the one that I just set up 2' x 3' blue plastic tank... with only marselia and beta (need to keep the mosquito out)...
the tank is out side of my factory... under the sun... no co2 pressurize tank... just used saechem flourish and excel...
been 3 weeks now... and the rate they grow is super fast...

I only used 2 cap flourish and 3 cap excel daily... for 2 liter I think can used to 1 year+ each...

I know some one who want to sell off his access ada stuff..
soil... light... glass inlet/outlet... fish tank... all ada... new and used...
he got 6-7 used tank with ada soil...

err... for wounds got lahh....

but if you are talking of using hydrogen peroxide on plants to fight algae... go buy 30 sae... it will solved all your algae problem...
my 3.5ft tank I got 60+ sae... no algae now...

I light up 10-12 hr per day and the algae bloom like no body business (I got like 5 kind of algae in my tank)...
I dun have any chiller and the temp is about 32*... that's why I always face algae problem...
after "consulting" a friend from sg... I found out that my tank need 50 SAE to keep the tank balance...

my aro can't chase the SAE as SAE swim very fast and have plenty of plants to hide...
and I only feed my aro with milworm... making them thinking milworm is the only food source...
unless I go out station for more than 3 days (no one to feed my aro)...
than the aro will eat my SAE...

if you like carpet like plant that need only low light and co2...try marselia...(sample can go to center point fish shop)

others low tech plants you can try...all kind of fern...all kind of nana... all kinds of moss(meaning all kind of parasite plants)
