hi everyone...ive got 4 feet aquarium...without any gravel or plant...just got a wood as decoration
i learn in the internet that the use of charcoal to :
1) maintaining the water quality in aquariums
2) best product for filtering the water and keeping the environment clean and healthy
3) Charcoal carbon is very helpful say if you have driftwood in your aquarium that is leaching tannins which turns your water a tea-stained color (mine did this after i soaked it for 4 days in separate tank sweat.gif ), carbon easily removes these tannins.

so my question is can i use normal charcoal for grilling as shown below...bought at Carrefour for RM 10...
can i put it inside the filter coz mine is side filter (filtration at back of aquarium)

help me on this notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

welcome,
LYN dont have a general thread bout fish keeper so i just posted it here

the problem is, ive purchase a driftwood in jln pasar, and it is big to be boil. ive soaked it for 5 days, changing the water regularly before putting inside the aquarium.

then, i put inside the aquarium, just 3 days, the water turns so yellowish/brown

so i bought 3 small bags of aquadine activated carbons to reduce the tannins....but it doesnt works.. i know this is not suitable for planted aquarium but mine dont have any plant on it.

so should i buy more carbons for my 4ft tanks ? or any other easy method ?

thanks !
