Phra Khun Paen

Wat Palelai
Mass Chanted

Size: 7inch ( H )

This is a very old monastery located near the west bank of Suphan River, two kilometers from the bank. It is generally called "Wat Pa" by the villagers. The Vihara houses a Buddha image named "Luang Pho To" in the attitude of leading a jungle life. The image, highly revered by the people, was formerly in the attitude of giving the first preaching sermon but was changed to the present attitude when it was renovated. Every year there are two worshipping fairs falling on the 5th to the 9th waxing moon days of the 5th and the 12th lunar months repectively.

Thailand’s legendary hero Khun Paen grew up in Kanchanaburi Province, which would later become famous as being home to the “Bridge on the River Kwai”. Khun Paen was also a disciple of Arjarn Kong( Suphanburi ), a monk who was an expert in magical studies. The martial prowess of Paen, a monk-turned-soldier, brought him to the attention of king Phra Ramathibodi II who promoted him to the rank of Khun (general). Khun Paen is immortalized in an epic poem. It is said that he used his knowledge of “saiyasat” (magic) and yantras (magic diagrams) to perform amazing feats. Some of these include making himself impenetrable by weapons and invisible to his enemies, changing the open field his enemies were marching across into a labyrinth, and transforming the leaves on the trees into wasps to attack and sting his enemies. Khun Paen and his men practiced “powwana” (meditation) before each battle in order to focus their minds and center themselves. The sword weilded by Khun Paen, called the ‘Daab Fa Fuen’, was a consecrated blade of Namphi steel which currently resides in the National Museum in Bangkok.

Ajarn Nikom/Kom is very famous in mystical wicca. He was studied magical knowledge from many famous masters in Thailand. At the age of 17 years old, he has studied the art of making efficacious amulet from his uncle. Ajarn Kom’s uncle has knowledge of Metta Visha and was a disciple of LP Sook, Wat MaKhamTow, who was one of the famous guru monks who had created many famous amulets which are very popular among Thai amulets collectors.

Ajarn Kom learned magic under his uncle until the age of 19 when he was finally ordained as a monk at Wat Wat BangKung. Ajarn Kom eventually was to become the close disciple of LP Sa Ngan, who was famous for his herbal medicine and wicca knowledge. At the same time, Ajarn Kom went for his “tudong” practice at Wat PhraTanDongRung, Kanchanaburi province. He met Ajarn Keiw whom has reputation for his visha (magic). Besides being a disciple of LP Sa Ngan, Ajarn Kom had also learnt visha from Ajarn Keiw. He was ordained as monk for 7 month , before leaving monkhood. After that, Ajarn Kom wanted to study magic charms for protecting himself from the dangerous elements of the region. He commenced studies in spiritual tattoos or yant composition from Kruba SeeViChai’s magic book.

Ajarn Kom is one who could create efficacious Guman Thong statue. He says that one must possess a strong mind and complete “Nippansutra” before attempting the consecration of KMTs. He has to study and practice seriously from masters to possess a clear and powerful mind to control spirits.

People believe that amulets made by Ajarn Kom can bring his owner prosperity, luck, and love. Anyone who possesses amulets or Guman Thong made by him and takes good care of him and worships him will be like an explorer finding invaluable treasure. Guman Thong will help owner success in business until he/she gets richer and richer, and eventually becomes a millionaire.
