Funny enough, I still find idealists to be fairly respectable, at least on a conversational level (maybe it's just my character building/objective solving preference in open-ended RPGs that influences me to like good talkers). On a practical level however, quietly cutting off the head of both king and queen while the pawns and knights are busy squaring off is still a favoured option, akin to a Predator missile strike or a Navy SEAL 'tag & bag' team operating behind enemy lines. Too bad Saber will never understand the everchanging doctrine of warfare in a no compromise, mobile nature of today's information-driven precision weapons. Then again, since when was warfare ever honourable to begin with, even with things like chivalry and bushido in place? Tell that to Cain and Abel (Habil & Qabil), I ain't gotta explain shit.

History is always written through a biased perspective. Legends are born out of inflated or fabricated testimonies. But without such bias, there will be no heroes for the people of corresponding cultures to take pride in, and no villains for the aforementioned to identify as an absolute, hypothetical evil. One cannot build a country without a powerful fairy tale to inspire pride and patriots, which is why idealists will always exist everywhere through the fabric of time. Like it or not, idealists drive the world forward. Realists either loathe at them or in actuality are the ones manipulating them for their own benefit.

These days, one can dream on about lining up like bullet sponge up an open ground waiting for the Taliban to not fire their weapons prematurely or detonate an IED discreetly.

Bet everyone thinks Oda Nobunaga is a total scumbag (Oh, Oda Nobunaga is pure evil? Tell me how pure and respectable other feudal rulers are) during the warring periods of Japan no thanks to conservative monks/"historians" who shunned his anglophilic tendencies for superior western tactics and firepower.
