Because your hard drive is set to SATA mode instead of IDE in the BIOS. Windows XP only recognizes a hard drive when its in IDE mode. Windows Vista and above recognizes SATA mode so you wouldn't have the same issue if installing them. As for how to solve your problem, in most BIOS, your able to change the mode the hard drive is configured to run in. Unfortunately your Mini doesn't have this option. So you have to slipstream the SATA drivers (which can be downloaded from Intel ) in the XP installation image using nLite. Try to google this, you'll find guides all over This post has been edited by 3shen: Dec 21 2010, 01:55 AM

QUOTE(dma0991 @ Dec 21 2010, 01:42 AM) No need to slipstream it..seriously it is not worth the time Instead go to your BIOS and find an option where you can change from AHCI to IDE..that should solve your problem and you can format like normal I have formatted a HP Mini 210 before, there isnt an option to change the modes like i mentioned in my post. Made an error there with the "does" This post has been edited by 3shen: Dec 21 2010, 01:56 AM
