get permission from your local council authorities (pihak berkuasa tempatan, PBT) 1st

submit your drawings & plans for their architect's approval


check your land title - does it says single storey dwelling, or multi storey or how? (differs between state, but in swak, yes it's stated)


then only you start doing it

if you don't, the PBT will have the right to ask u to take down the structure completely

play safe. pay a bit more to the structural engineers
