Hi, i plan to buy either philip LED (5606 series) or sharp LED (L700 series) from HLK chain shop. Both offered at RM2,800.

This is what i prefer Philip:
1) better graphic (2.5D)
2) great motion (definetely can see difference...damn smooth)
3)3 years warranty compared to sharp which is 2 years

But i get a lot of bad feedback from lowyat forum on philip brand. Hence i need some real user experience on both brand, hope can give me some advice

I most prefer value of money which is durability, good customer services.

Thank you so lot...RM2,800 is not a small amount..so need to decide diligently...TQTQ

If 3 years warranty ok mah...all depends on luck...all brands got doodles...Philips HD Natural motion is indeed impressive.

But i have 2 Sharps though...tongue.gif

Just buy the one you want. Don't listen to all the people here, they know nuts. Including me. tongue.gif

I notice Sharp's LED have glass screen giving lots and lots of reflection. Not a good idea for room with lots of bright lights or windows.

if asking for my opinion, i will choose Philips because:

1) when comparing philips 5605 with its counterparts on 1080p fast motion videos, it is very smooth (others have some stutter problems). maybe because philips using 2ms panel.

2) price is consider cheap but worthy (LED+full hd+3yrs warranty)

i can say that the review isn't 100% accurate. i read the review too before deciding on buying the 40" philips LED tv. but what i saw was a bit different from the review.

for instance, the remote control is different from what is posted inside there. my philips remote control feels 'LG-like' lol. the Tv menu is different too, it's just like LG TV menu. and at the back, there's more expansions for you to plug in your xbox etc than pictured inside the review. most probably that one is an old revision version.

anyway, my opinion on Philips vs Sharp:

i was scouting the sharp Quattron LED 40" and was about to buy it when i was reminded that the screen is glass, and not VA panel (this is the correct term right?). Since my house is quite the bright type (mom always opens the front door and window) so the Sharp is a big no for me because of reflections.

in terms of features, i can say Sharp > philips, no doubt about it. but when you bought a TV for your parents, features aren't that important to them, as long as they can view their sports and korean drama dosage, it's ok for them already.

in terms of USB playback, Sharp has it more than Philips, but i usually stream movies from my PS3, which is also used as a bluray player.

in terms of sound, Sharp > Philips too. the Philips TV speakers aren't that convincing though, but then again, when you're living in a terrace house, how much volume can u go higher then? sad.gif

as for aesthetics, the Sharp is more towards futuristic while the Philips is more conventional and simple.

there, my opinion on Sharp vs Philips. if you have the money and wanted more out of your TV, go for Sharp, else the Philips is enough already smile.gif

oh yeah, i noticed the Philips TV menu is almost the same as my friend's LG LCD TV. lol.

I bought a Philips 8-series last month. Off the box, the picture isnt great. It takes a few adjustments to get what I think makes a good setting. The HD natural motion really does its job. Motion flow is smooth, but sometimes artifacts are introduced in the images. The ambilight feature improves the viewing experience. I'm quite happy with it. A major consideration was the good deal I got for it. smile.gif
