why i still need to put the command "nouveau.modeset=0" at the back line of kernel?

If you want to install an nvidia driver, you need to disable the nouveau driver first in order to avoid conflict between the 2 drivers.

Hmm.. when you say nuke, what kind of nuke do you mean? I use testdisk to mine formatted drives all the time.

nouveau is the default driver for vga?  i think i not installed the nouveau into my laptop

When we are using nvidia chipset for our vga, the default driver is nouveau which came together with most distros nowadays. This is free and open source driver. If we are going to use proprietary nvidia driver, command parameters in kernel need to be insert such as 'nomodeset'. This to make way to the proprietary driver to be installed successfully,

I'm using pidgins too...but it can't use the audio/video call. Quite sad

but i still have some other problems with pidgin, like when i try to send a file to other user that using ym, it didn't succesfull.
Plus, i can't buzz others. It just shows the msg "buzzing (the people's name)" but in fact, didn't buzz him/her.

is there official release for firefox 4 on ubuntu
