e-jump: Distracting background is distracting! Much prefer your second shot. And I like #3 (or is it #5?) for the angle. And oooh #6!
Thanks for the comments.
Yes, my awareness of surrounding is really lacking. When its time to process, then i saw dustbin, ppl face etc.

My 2011 resolution is to improve my lighting and composition.
My pics may look nice, but theyre somewhat same ;__;

ok. lets have guys for a change

playing with wide aperture, local AF is the best bet you can go to avoid OOF
but if you have stepped down to F5 n lower, you can get away with center AF, as is is known that the center crossed AF is most sensitive spot esp lowlight wink.gif

How i wish a850 diamond shaped af-spots is more widespread

hi guys. I'm thinking of buying an A290. Is it worth it? My budget is kinda tight, rm1.4-rm1.5k at most. I can't find good review for A290. Please any alpha members poison me biggrin.gif

try asking yourself, how serious u gonna get in photography.

lately theres a trend where ppl thinks using dslr can produce better pictures, and so the bandwagon of gettin dslr has broaden.
dslr gives you the opportunity of interchangeable lens where you can nit pic what lens suites your preference, and of course better sensors.
with latest techs, high end pnS are as good as well as they offers full manual control and stay compact.

the choice is yours, venture into world of full manual and customization, or be compact wink.gif

getting back to you question, how about getting a midrange used unit? the a5xx series has better ergonomics n performs better.
i dont fancy the new a2xx/3xx series as they taken out few stuff from the 1st gen a300/350 and too small. Then again, please test at shop and checkout if you like em in your hands

@e-jump,
i've used d90 and 450d before, borrowed from my faculty for couple of times. and using it in manual mode biggrin.gif

I think i'm quite serious about getting into photography. Been stalking and reading around since 2008/2009 but too bad doesnt have the budget. what model would you suggest me?
*
hmm..
since you've used d90, i'd say skip the alpha 2/3xx series or you'd be dissapointed.
Save more and go with a5xx series. This will match/a step up the performance of 450d/d90 nod.gif

Its part of my 2011 resolution where i start to learn metering the sky into my photos (reducing overblown sky effect).

I think the camera hit the max speed 1/4000, but still to bright
Thus affecting the contrast AF on a a350 body
solution:
1. step the aperture down
2. ND4/8 filter for bokeh under the sun

Gee.. Thanks..
1 of my my 2011 resolution is to take the surroundings into composition (less normal portraits) to fit the character.
However im still far from other photogs who can make the picture speak what character type the person in the photo is
