codyx, go with the kitlens n flash 1st (since u need flash).
since a55 have good ISO, u dun really need f2.8 lens (yet)...

Added on December 28, 2010, 10:50 amguys...any1 of u have experience when ur superzoom lens does not focus on a certain focal length but other focal length is working fine?
e.g. zoom from 18-70mm focus ok, from 75-85mm cannot focus, from 90-135 focus ok, 200mm cannot focus?
it does not happen all the time? any idea?

blowsh: i think the strip is damage ( eletric strip that tell distant info to the chip, and without info the chip might not function) send the lens with body for check up or find some PRO friend to help u take a look first... no many people will have this kind of knowledge/ experience...
do you know where / any shop who services Sigma lens?
this focusing problem only happens in 80mm and 200mm focal length. other focal lengths works witout problem wor... rclxub.gif

chiahau: bro, thanks for the address...mayb will drop by there tomorrow... c how it goes... smile.gif

codyx: i use F42 on my A230 is heavy enuf, if on A55 should be just nice...i too wanted a good flash, but not too advance n pricey, tats y i choose F42. F20...better stick to built-in flash...F20 can only bounce on ceiling if shooting landscade mode, for portrait mode, cannot bouce to ceiling as it cannot swive...

I have this question for some time...

People often critics(probably they just curious) about Sony Alpha Cameras...

When you asked any Canon or Nikon users they will probably have negative idea's for Sony's products..not because they grasp the differences but seems they never understand the detail from Sony products...

they just have bad view-point for it although they never experience one before

I clearly know Sony Alpha are practically/Mostly Entry-level DSLR's, And i know their "Like.No.Other" motto make them create something that purposely 'differ' from other competitors....

I need some Pro comments for this situation and some clues why such attitude or should i say...their disgust towards sony

Thanks in advance for all the comments i can get because i found this is a Serious Issue when an Alpha users met with other Nikon nor Canon pupil

thanks
*
i noob in DSLR but also get lots of question on this topic too...can never answer them..cos...they will only wanted to hear what they want to hear...no matter how good alpha is...
some even compare their D90 with my A230...how to compare??? i also got compare between thier (nikon 18-135) lens against my 55-200mm...
just shot n show...

Just ask them if you take out 3 photos and put them on a table can they tell you which camera brand took which picture? If they can't then no point saying this cam brand better than that cam brand lor coz no one can tell the difference looking at a picture.
*
rclxms.gif good one... sometimes i just keep quiet...shot..then sit down...go through the photos...n got good remarks on the photos i shot...still keep smiling... haha..no point to answer...

i do agree that good photos comes from the photographer...gear mayb, but not the brand...

is the Sony 55-200mm f4-f5.6 lens a good buy?

i resisted getting the twin lens combo for my A33 coz i dun see the need for the 75-300mm lens. however, i tried my friend's sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG Macro lens and was hooked. but i dun really need such big focal lengths (plus it's expensive).
*
so far i'm using the old 55-200mm sony, n its a good lens. thinking of getting myself a tamron 70-300mm lens as well (300mm for bird n wildlife), but dunno should i get it or not cos not really been using the 200mm length. but overall, 55-200mm is a good lens to start with... for me at least....

my cam is A230. is it the lens problem or my cam firmware problem (firmware v1.1)? sad.gif rclxub.gif
