i hv pata fat 32 usb hd. im currently using fc2..
is there any distro that can automatically mount the drive?
i hv modified the fc2 kernel so it can automatically mount my win partion.. but i cant make it work for my usb hd.. anyone know how?
any help is a welcome.. btw im a noob

I tried, and Ubuntu seems to be able to do auto mount.
Just plug and play.

Perhaps newer versio of FC can do that too.

the plug m play feature seems more like the feature of newer version of gnome, it simulate user experience in windows so u will see the available partition mounted n have a shortcut link on the desktop. coz i see this behaviour in rhel4/fc3 but not in the earlier version.normally i boot to runlevel 3 then startx to x-win, so even if i dun mount the ext storage,but once i startx those ext storage will be automatically mounted with the access shortcut on desktop.

automount works superbly for me since FC3
autodetected generic USB drive, thumb drive (can't recall the brand)
w/o much problem

I'm in the process of installing FC4 on two machines
and upgrading FC3->FC4 on another

so I'll let you know when I'm done.
