Wouldnt adding a DPI device add the traffic overhead/latency in the network. I seriously think they should STOP discriminate p2p protocol. As downloading just 10-20GB of data from p2p isnt consider as Heavy user and shouldnt be punish. I am one of these user that DL just low amount of BT every month. there are even months that I use only 8 GB bandwidth as a VIP5 user.

DPI is a waste of money it can be easily bypass. They should have just stick to one type of Traffic management = volume cap base. Even our telephone/mobile bill are cheaper during the midnight start having a live different pricing per GB during peak and off peak hour.
What TM should do is to offer a minimum base charges RM30-RM50 for streamyx/unifi package with a standard speed @ 4mbps/20mbps respectively for all user, then start charging them RM per GB as they use.

Yes replace DPI with Bandwidth Cap

TM mostly doesn't drop the packet, most of the time they add some packets into the stream.

Now I see the case. I always use bittorrent but very hard to reach 50GB. So those VPN users are the bandwidth hogger. No wonder MX510 doesn't talk about it. After that, I bought VPN service since last month case, and still the speed is slow. Yes, we need bandwidth cap, seriously so that everybody can use Internet fairly. I don't blame TM for that. This VPN business for p2p really hurt our internet experiences. In fact kill those hoggers if possible. Giving our money to those 1% is not fair to us and to TM.

I am proposing that every customer is given quota based on the package they subscribed. Now this maybe not fair to super light customers. So I am suggesting that TM gives rebate to those customers for saving bandwidth like TNB did to people that consume less electricity.

So TM can please stop throttling my bittorent? urrgh.

me too. VPN is not the problem. Bandwidth hogger is the one. VPN assists them to hog more.

First, we must ensure that TM definition of usage > 25GB is heavy user/hogger is changed. If not, no matter what your reasons, nothing can be done from our side, except riot biggrin.gif

bandwidth hoggers sweat.gif

1% of the selfish users (those who using BolehVPN or some other VPN service) are utilizing 20% of the available international bandwidth.

TM are blind-folded by the VPN users because they can’t actually find out what the users are doing with their international bandwidth. This does not only allows them to ‘fully’ utilize all the resources available, it also caused tremendous traffic congestion for the rest of the 99%.
There will be information about the bandwidth usage on the bill by Q2 2011.

Once Fair Usage Policy (FUP) has made into the final decision stage, all the customers that have signed a 1 or 2 year contract will be informed before the launching.

TM has currently not yet forwarded any RIAA or RIM copyright infringement letters to their subscribers, but will consider to do it in view of the upcoming Government Legislation – the ISP Liability Act.

The information on the bill has been done before right? Why discontinue it?

I am tired, well after deep thought, if no revision and my torrent still be throttled, I have no chance but to become just like that 1%. I paid very high price for 4mbps +new VPN. I am good user before but now I am going to download 10TB a month if it is possible. TM gonna screw with us, well we screw their head, arms and back and then I hope there will be a riot at TM tower. In fact their technical team told me 4mbps is not for download.

VPN is awesome. They going to invest on how to see in the tunnel instead of upgrading their services. Good Good.

That's what we don't know. What we do know is that a cap will be implemented probably on January 2011.

Take my advice and don't subscribe to Unifi. Unless you really want to no matter what, but that's another story.

Edit: The speed for all packages VIP5,10 and 20 are said to be throttled back to 1Mbps for a period of 30 days if you hit the monthly download limit (which you probably will). It's a huge penalty. I'm am saying this based on what feedback I got from their customer service. This is what they told me.

Ohh nice, 1mbps is consider too much when streamyx got throttled heavily and won't even reach 256k.

no point of subscribing streamyx anymore if there were to be FUP for streamyx.

That's what TM wanted. As someone said earlier, Streamyx has gone to the wrong direction. I don't know which direction Streamyx is going, to their pockets I think, or maybe user wins more than them, so they fix it by FUP.

Added on December 27, 2010, 11:49 amWhy TM also throttle connection to local peer? Why? I am doing my job as a patriotic guy and seed my torrent so that other local peer can leech from me.

TM can detect whether your IP is at the same time simultaneously download and upload. Personally, I did use BT or any P2P since 1998 but stopped as I don't like it as I can only get reasonable speeds for latest popular files.

*
Why I think that you are one of TM employee? I only got unreasonable speed for 4mbps on latest popular files with xxxxx seeders

So what will happen in the next 2 days? After all of this, I think this thread has become rant thread, and if I recall back, The Monkey only care about security issues such as UNIFI. This is the list of The Monkey directors. If you happen to see them outside, please spit on their faces. I hate them so much that I want to throw my crap to their faces. http://www.tm.com.my/ap/about/personnel/Pa...dDirectors.aspx

Well explained. MX510, can you put this on the first post, so TM can read this. Then if possible provide a template so that we can complain to skmm. We will now counter TM acts. I am not good in English, so anyone open to this idea? If we can have a legal advise and start sending skmm our opinion legally, maybe they can start do something.

I recall I have to download updates for Vista to make Vista works which is more than 1GB. Henshin, thanks for clarifying. Unlike other user here that try to defend the bandwidth limitation problem. TM is just overselling the product.
