For guys who train at home and use round dumbbell and barbell plates. Here's an easy tip to keep dumbbells from rolling away. It's an inexpensive solution and will keep your workout environment safe. thumbup.gif

This thread has LOL written all over it. ^Good one, mate.

On a serious note, I put my feet on the dumbbells, not on the handles but the weight stack itself, from rolling.

It also looks very cool if you've 70 pounders on the floor.

My own mini gym is already safe for workout eventhough the dumbell is rolling. C'mon bro. We're not working out at the hill top with slopping roads.

um... just my 2 cents... but he DID say working out at home....

dumbells dont roll as badly or easily on gym floors with mats or rubber padding on them, but they really are a pain on terazzo and marble flooring. i have a barbell set at home with uncoated steel plates, and given the chance the damned thing would roll clear across the hallway.

it would of course be hilarious to bring those rubber tiles to the gym.... but if its for use in one's own house i think its a really good idea.

Hey guys, just curious. Since my parents aren't that supportive of me going to a commercial gym (due to the distance), I'm working out at home, and I'm terrified I'll crack the tiles if the heavy weights drop, what I'm wondering is what kind of flooring does gyms use, so it can withstand the shock of falling weights.

Any any ideas guys?

first of all, dont exercise on tiles, it'll crack for sure if dbs drops from a standing position, unless you have those factory grade heavy duty ones tongue.gif .
just be careful when setting down the weights, and invest in some rubber mats like what you see in gyms. usually gyms just have bare concrete flooring with padded rubber mats.

I'd exercise on other surfaces, but there are none! Hahah. Was thinking of getting rubber mats, but from what I've read online they tend to stink after some time. Really scared to go all out on deadlifts now, scared my grip gives out and it drops.

same here lol. only marble and terazzo here. but now my dbs and barbells hv been practically untouched for years since i enrolled at a gym.
i used yoga mats whn i worked out at home to put my weights on. the foam type. get a few and stack them up and you'll have a nice, padded surface to protect ur tiles.

aiyo, just use some common sense la.
