It seem we need some technical knowledge to use the maxis prepaid broadband with the N8 (don' know with other phones). I'm using opera mobile and when the broadband connected and I start surfing to any website with opera mobile, it will open maxis website asking for mobile id/username and password, and sometime it open the hotlink wap portal.

After I changed the opera mobile useragent seting (using opera:config) to value number 3, which spoofed the user agents to IE8, then I can open the hotlink portal that showing my prepaid broadband details, then I can surf the internet like normal, after that the broadband can also be shared with my laptop wifi using JoikuSpot Lite (in N8).

Setting that I'm using are, apn = bbnet, username = maxis, password = wap.

Is this normal with Maxis Prepaid Broadband or it just me?

If i am not wrong hotlink broadband got 2 type. 1 is modem broadband another is internet broadband

If u accidentally activated modem broadband and put into your phone u will get error like you. If u select internet broadband can make call shouldnt have problem. I am using it on my Nokia N900 and Ipad.

Alamak. My N8 switched off by itself and now cannot start sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

How now? Or is there some way to revive the N8?
Sending this to NCC means I'll be without a phone for my office work...

try use the micro usb charger, put the charger for 10 sec and plug out for a few second then plug in back, wait for a while and try on your phone.
