boomy bass for me is cinema type bass...low...rumbly...with too much resonance and not much punch. (but cinema system obviously is tuned to make everything balance) it can also be high..but with too much resonance and odd harmonics
tight bass for me = extremely high end concert woofer bass... distortionless... where each note can be heard w/o overpowering the music...each note can be felt.
