It's a 512MB player. This is what I did(according to the documentation):

1. Format the player to FAT32 from WinXP.

2. Select every file in folder /rootfs (which i unzipped from the package I downloaded) and copy them to my player storage.

3. Unzipped syslinux2.13 to my D: drive.

4. Run 'syslinux.exe' h: ----> H: is my the USB storage. Confirmed that ldlinux.sys is in the root directory after running the command.

5. Reboot and set the BIOS to boot ONLY from USB Zip/Flash. (Already ascertain my BIOS firmware is the latest from manufacturer website)

6. Safe the changes and exit.

7. Nabeh.......It's not working. Can't boot mad.gif

Knopperdisk..
Never tried that before.
My sensei would recommend me to use FAT instead of FAT32.

Just last week I had done one debian sarge netinstall on a usb flash drive.
Took up 120mb.
Pretty straight forward.

Knopperdisk.
Tempting.
I'll do one right away.

Cheers!

Done.

It is based on Gentoo linux
Took up 40mb only.

No problem for me to boot knopperdisk from USB flash drive.
If you still can't get it working, how about follow my steps?

Format it to FAT instead of FAT32.
Use syslinux 2.11 instead of syslinux 2.13

Colourful interface.
Yum yum.

Cheers!

I think it's hardware specific problem. I tried installing using exactly the same step as above for an USB drive I borrowed from our MIS dept on the same computer. It works fine. Still figuring out what's wrong with mine.......still googling for an answer.

The portage is there. I'm not sure whether it is source base distro or a binary one. I don't recommend you to install software on your flash drive the real Gentoo way if it is a source base distro. Your flash drive will die faster. Enjoy.

Could it be hardware problem?
Perhaps.
I tried on almost all available PC's using the same flash drive.
Booting without any problem at all.
Ah, shit happens. biggrin.gif
